Bony Fingers. (Part One)

Keeping up with the Hallowe'en spirit, here's another horror story. In this one, a man keeps dreaming he is being touched by bony fingers.

I feel them.

I don't see them, per se, but I feel them.  Bony fingers touching me on the skin.  Mainly on the cheek, neck, or shoulders.  And it creeps me out.

I don't know if it is a dream or what, but it seems that every night, I dream of skeletal, bone-thin (pun intended) fingers placing themselves on different areas of my body.  And it seems all too real because whenever I wake up, I'm shaking with a combination of cold and fear.

This started ever since we (my wife and myself, as well as our two small kids) moved into this damn old house.  Over 100 years old, falling apart, dank, dreary: it would make for a perfect setting for a haunted house ... or perhaps a Hallowe'en party.

I wonder if there are ghosts.

My wife tells me I'm being stupid.  "There are no such things as ghosts, Jim!" she is always saying to me.  Well, maybe no ghosts, but then, why doesn't she or the two children feel the touch of ice-cold, bony fingers?  Why is it only just me??

It happened again last night.  Never in the day: only at night.  I only got a few hours' sleep.  Those damned bony fingers kept putting themselves upon my neck or on my face.  I don't see them, but boy, I sure do feel them, every time.

I've been cold ever since.

I wonder what the fingers want or why they keep tormenting me.  I wonder if it's their way of getting my attention, letting me know that we aren't alone, or if they are trying to send me a warning: a warning that "they don't want us here."

I don't konw, but if this creepy situation doesn't stop soon, I might have to borrow my kids' nightlight and see if I can see anything ... perhaps, capture the culprit in action and turn 'em in if it's a person.  If it is a ghost, I might have to call for an exorcist or an exterminator.  For all I know, it might only be bugs.  Bedbugs, perhaps.

Just the thought creeps me out even more.  If I get any sleep tonight, it will be a miracle.

~To be continued.~
