Mi hermano, he wants to become the next big thing in conjunto music.
He has always loved it, ever since he was a tiny tot. In fact, Omar, he can't get enough ot it. The more conjunto he hears, the better it is (for him, anyway). As for the rest of us, he is gonna drive us muy loco en la cabeza!!
Omar, who is thirteen, has already been taking accordion lessons, ever since he was six. Now at thirteen, he can play nearly as well as some of the conjunto stars he emulates: Los Tigres Del Norte, Flaco Jiminez, Ramon Ayala, Los Huricanes de Norte, Los Tucanes De Tijuana, Los Invasores De Nuevo Leon, and others.
He is amazing! Omar has already performed at several Mexican folk festivals throughout the Chicago area (we live here in Chicago) and already people are stsrting to flap their lips about my brother.
Mami y papi, they think he is muy obsessed with conjunto, but as for me, it's okay. I like it too; I just can't play any instruments. I am muy estupido. Never could learn anything but the stupid triangle anyway. Mi hermana, Maria-Elena, she sings conjunto too and sometimes she performs with Omar at these festivals and I can't help but get a bit jealous. Maria-Elena is only six and already sings like a little Selena or Gloria Estefan.
I couldn't sing my way out of a paper sack. Tone-deaf. Si, that's me, all over. And it's muy terrible!!
Mi parentes, they are very embarrassed for me. Well, the feeling's mutual. Guess that's why I play besbol y basketball; they're much more my speed!
Well, I gotta run. Gotta go to the store with Mami y Papi. I stayed home today 'cause I had a dentist appointment. (Had to get four teeth filled. I'm a bit sore in the mouth. OW!) I will write in here again soon, with more stories about Omar, my brother, the Conjunto King. Until then, take care and God bless! Hasta luego, mi amigos!
