It's happened again. More bad news. Makes me wish I never had the Internet or a television ...
In our small community, a man went berserk and killed his wife and three children because he couldn't find a job, so he took out his frustrations out on his family. The kids were only 9, 5, and 2. All boys. He then killed himself.
As you can imagine, our communtiy is reeling from the shock. The man was someone my dad knew. When my dad saw the news on the tv, he cried. That was when he told us about it and now we're all numb with shock.
And last night, in town, a drunk driver going the wrong way killed an elderly woman who was attempting to cross the street. She was killed instantly; the driver never even stopped: he just kept going. A hit-and-run.
Then you hear of all the strife going on in distant lands: the ongoing wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. The president threatening to cut benefits for Veterans while Congress chooses to vote themselves another pay raise when they already make more than enough. Celebrities bragging about their baubles and diamonds or their charity work for children in other lands when here in America you have Veterans who are homeless, families who are starving, or people unable to find work because the economy is so bad.
The thought of it all totally disgusts me.
You hear all the time of people abusing animals (last week a dog, a pit bull, was found abandoned, with a rope tied tightly around its neck; the dog was in terrible shape and is now fighting for its very life in an animal hospital; it is not known at this time whether the animal will even survive or who is responsible), people killing each other in the name of religion (REALLY??), or the wrong people being charged with crimes while the perpetrators seem to get off scot free, and much more.
And then you have September 11, 2001 to remember. Ten years ago our country was horribly attacked by terrorists who hijacked four planes and bombed the World Trade Center towers and hit the Pentagon. Over 3,000 innocent men, women, and children died as a result of this and our world as we knew it was forever changed in a heartbeat.
I can't even begin to imagine what the families of the victims must have endured (or STILL endure all these years later).
Then Pastor Richter tells us at church we have to pray and/or forgive those who do wrong to others. Really?? How can I pray for people like the terrorists or those who abuse animals, babies, children, or old people without even taking into consideration their actions?? I find it very hard TO pray for these bad people and this is when I want to tell God to stuff it becuase if He were God He'd get off His throne and do something about all the bad stuff that's going on!
If I were God, I'd be awfully picked off about now!
Well, I've managed to bum myself out more ... and finding out about dad's friend murdering his family (and then himself) certainly did NOT help any!
