See, catching the ball allowed one of your teammates’ to be released from jail.

Mitch made up his mind early in this crazy game he would not spend time in jail. Jail was for losers!  By the time he made it to third grade, just eight-years-old; he’d mastered catching the ball. See, catching the ball allowed one of your teammates’ to be released from jail. And Mitch could catch that red-rubber-ball better than anyone at school. Everyone wanted him on their team. This also made Mitch a huge target. Every boy in school wanted to put him in jail, but few ever did. They aimed for his face and genitals, throwing the ball as hard as they could. Mitch could catch the ball against his stomach, in front of his face, over his head, and even down by his shoes like a basket catch.
