We have two additions to our family: two eight-week-old Maine Coon kittens we have decided to name "Sparky" and "Shazzbutt" ("Shazzy" or "Shazz" for short). They are the cutest little things!
One ("Shazzy") is female; the other, "Sparky", is a male. You can definitely tell that they are brother and sister.
They spend their days sleeping (they sleep up to 16-18 hours a day), but at night, you can hear them galumping around the house, running into things, meowing, hissing, or annoying the family dog (a Golden Retriever we named "Lucky"). It's no wonder we are so (pardon the pun) dog-gone tired: the cats keep us up all night long!
Nothing (and I DO mean nothing!) escapes their curious paws. Whether it is Christmas decortions or lights on the Christmas tree (which has been a favourite hangout as of late), Lucky's ears (or tail), a string or belt dangling towards the floor, Lindi's long hair, birds outside the window, or toys like balls with bells in them, feather teasers, etc., the cats are always on the go. It seems they never stop!!
It tires us migtily just to watch them!!
I wish we had some of their energy, especially now with Christmas being only four days away! We could really use a dose of "Kitten Power" about now!
We love the kittens, don't get us wrong, but I have forgotten just how active kittens can be. We have to keep tabs on them every minute or else they could dismantle the entire house in only seconds or minutes! Maybe we ought to invest in getting a "kitten-sitter" ....
