My name is Chad Daniel Skorpuski ... called "Ski" for short. I am 14 years old and live in Chicago, Illinois, with my mama and papa, as well as my Babushka (Grandmother) and two younger sisters (Mary-Kate and Elizabeth, who are 12 and 9).
I am in the ninth grade at Northrup Middle School. School is okay, I guess, but I'd rather spend time playing with my friends or sleeping in in the mornings: I am NOT a morning person AT all!
I like to do many things, among them being basketball, baseball, and football with the guys, reading, hackeysack, ice and roller skating, roller-blading, skateboarding, snow skiing, and soccer. I'm a well-rounded, very athletic type of person, wihich is one reason why I am so skinny in the first place.
In addition, I love to play the button box. I have loved polka music since I was a little boy and I started learning how to play the button box accordion when I was six. That's eight years' worth of lessons now and I have gotten quite good, if I do say so myself. My grandpa played it before he died three years ago and I loved how it sounded, so I talked him into teaching me the basics. I now take lessons from my Uncle Stanislav; he plays in a polka band most weekends and sometimes when there have been polka festivals, he let me play with his band.
Very exciting; nothing like seeing people having a good time and enjoying the way I play! Nothing like the feeling of being loved and appreciated!!
This winter has been fairly cold and quite snowy, but last year we had more snow. We had a big ol' blizzard last year that featured lightning and thunder along with the high winds and snow; man, it was really soemthing! We were out of school for a solid two weeks; it was great!!
Today, however, is not snowy. It is partly cloudy out and warmish, highs in the 40's, but it is supposed to turn sharply colder by this weekend, as another Alberta Clipper is about to visit us. Then we probably won't get out of the single digits or teens for a few days. BRR!! I have enjoyed the warmer temps as I have finally been able to get out. I recently had a bad cold and just am now over the last of it. Have a cough, but that's about it.
Well, I hope you enjoyed reading my story. Mary-Kate wants to use the computer before she goes to bed; it's a school night and we have to share the computer. Her bedtime is at eight forty five. Then I can get back on. Until later, this is Chad Skorpuski saying so long! God bless; I'll write in here again!
~Chad (aka "Ski"). :)
