After a while I nearly forgot I had other Sisters, sisters who were with the monsters who had raised me, who had tried to kill me.

Chapter Ten:

I know I would have died, if I had not stumbled into that cabin I thought was empty, but there was food there.  I was starving, my stomach hurt so bad.  I lost track of time, the days had melted together.

It was a blessing in a way I guess that man was there though I was terrified.  What if he found my parents, what if he let Father know I was alive?  If he let them know he may as well kill me himself?

Thankfully he believed me as I sobbed my story, and he kept me hidden.  He and his wife…

I became their child, his wife had explained they had prayed for a child so long, and they could not turn me over to authorities, because they would be on my parents side.  I would be given to them.  Things were different back then, children were not given a voice, but in keeping me hidden they had done just that, the Carson’s had given me a voice.

I became Sonya Carson, and it felt right.  I was given a Mom and Dad who loved me, even after Mr.s Carson finally gave birth to children of her own, a boy, and then a girl, just a year apart I was not treated any differently.

After a while I nearly forgot I had other Sisters, sisters who were with the monsters who had raised me, who had tried to kill me.

Ana closed her aunts journal.  Knowing that she had to protect it at all costs, her Grandfather somehow knew Sonya was alive, and he had wanted to find out where she was, so he could finish what he had started.  He had wanted to kill his own daughter, his oldest girl.

What kind of sick monster was this?

“I couldn’t come up with this plot if I tried.” Ana told Vania, as they sat in their Mothers living room.  Vania had just gotten off duty and had come to pick up Journey and Justin.

“I know Ana, but that’s the way our life has been too.  Well maybe not quite to the extent of Aunt Sonya’s, but we all bear our scars from that monster.”

“Yes that we do, and one day he is going to have to face his judgment for those scars, for the evil he has done.”

“Yes he will, we will all ultimately face God’s judgment but I am glad that we are not him, that we are not going to have to be held accountable for the kind of things he has done.”

“Amen Ana, I am glad of that too. “

Vania stayed for a while knowing Ana needed the company, she was growing weary of having to be away from her own home, growing weary of having to run away from danger.  Their grandfather was not content, unless he was making someone miserable, scaring them or hurting them, even from behind bars.

Lord please let him stop, keep me safe, so that I can get home again.  I would like to get back to my life Lord, but I know I need to be safe, and I know what he is capable of.

“Ana I have some good news, if nothing else happens, it looks like you will be able to go back to your house by the weekend.”  Vania knew her sister was thinking about getting back home, getting back to work on her book, and back to all the things she loved to do at her home.

“Thank you Vania.  I am praying nothing else happens.”

“So am I Ana.  I know you want to get back home, and get back to your life and I don’t blame you.”

“Don’t get me wrong Vania, I appreciate that I have Mom and Dad to come to, but your right I need to get back home.”

“I know you appreciate all Mom and Dad do for you, and they know it to Vania, but they know too that you need your space, we all do, and you need to be safe.”

“I know, I wish he would just stop.”

“So do I Ana.  If we had less men like him in the world, my job would sure be a lot easier.”

            “Amen Vania.”

Ana was thankful for all Vania was doing to keep her safe.  She knew as a police officer that was her duty, but it was so much more than that.  Vania was passionate about what she did, just as her Mother and Father had been when they were on the force.  Ana of course worried about her sister and prayed for her, but she knew her sister was doing everything in her power to stay safe, because she had two beautiful children to come home too after the end of her shift.

Lord allow me to go home soon, and please more importantly keep Vania safe, so she can always come home to Journey and Justice.  Houses can be replaced Lord, but I know my sister could never be replaced, and I do fear that something will happen because I know how dangerous her career can be, even in a small town like ours the danger is there.  I ask Lord that you protect her and keep her safe.  I love you Lord, and I thank you.

Vania packed up the children, and headed home, and Ana went back to her computer trying to write, trying to work on her manuscript.  She was having trouble focusing though , because she had so much on her mind.  She wanted to get back home and get back to her life, but she had an uneasy feeling about her sister as well.  Ana didn’t know what the feeling was about, perhaps she was just worried about her older sister as she so often did, because of all that Vania had to face in the line of duty, perhaps it was something else.  Ana couldn’t be sure, all she knew for sure was that she was not able to focus, that she was not getting much done.  She believed things would get better after she was able to go back to her own house, and get back to her life.  Ana loved her parents but she was an adult and she had a place of her own, a place she loved.  Sure it was too big, and sometimes it made her feel lonely, but it was something she had worked hard for and Ana was glad she had it.  She missed being home, she longed to feel safe, but the truth was she had not really felt safe since she was a little girl.
