I am your typical teen, except for one thing I can not hear very well, I am profoundly hard of hearing, even with hearing aids my hearing is minimal, but other than that I am your typical teen. I love spending time with my family and friends. My closest friend, does not have any hearing issues, in fact alot of times she acts as my ears LOL!!! I am mainstreamed in a public highschool, going to regular classes, which can be challenging, but I think it is worth it.
I can sign, but I prefer speaking, because most of my friends do not know sign. My closest friend knows some sign language, but not enough to hold long conversations so it is easier to speak. She is taking classes in school though, and sometimes I help her with her homework LOL!
I am a juninor in highschool and I do enjoy school. I guess being hard of hearing does bring some challenges, but I think just being a teenager brings challenges, at least that's what Mom always says LOL!!!
I am a Christian and that does help with the challenges, both from being hard of hearing, and simply from being a teenage girl. I want others though to see me who I am, I do not need to be defined as that girl who doesn't hear to well, I am who I am, who God made me to be, my ears may not work perfectly, but in the scheme of things I find that a minor hindurance.
