A teacher's daily struggle.
As a teacher I know I should feel this:
Terrific
Energetic
Attentive
Caring
Helpful
Encouraged
Resourceful
So why is it right now I feel?
Tired
Euthanized
Angered
Crucified
Hurt
Exhausted
Resentful
I wonder do others feel this way. Or is it just me? Am I just having one of my bad days? Or is it time to go or is there still time to stay? These kids are driving me crazy, and I can not let that happen so maybe I need to step back and realize that they are here just to test me. See how strong of a teacher and reacher I am.
I love what I do and I make a difference in the lives that I touch daily. They come to me broken and need me to mend them, to fix them, to love them, to help them, but there is only so much one person can do. Looking around the room this very dark bleak morning, in the quiet before anyone is here, in the still and darkness before the pitter patter of 24 little first graders come into my classroom; I prepare my body, my mind, my soul, and above all my heart.
The heart is the most important in my line of work, because a child that is hurting or has been abused is not ready to learn until they know they are safe and that they are loved. I have to ensure that all of my students are loved at least for the week and the eight hours they are with me. So I can be that teacher and reacher that is:
Terrific
Energetic
Attentive
Caring
Helpful
Encouraged
Resourceful
So looking back on this day I am changing my out look and will be this teacher so that my students have the teacher they deserve. Their teacher that loves them cares for them and goes above and beyond for them, even if no one else will.
