An Odd Duck: Ducky's Story.

A mallard duck takes to a boy. This is their story.

Seems I have been adopted by a duck.  A male mallard duck.

Ever since "Ducky" (as I call him) came into the picture, it seems that he will not leave me alone.  He always has to follow me around, making happy little quacking sounds, but if I ignore him (which is often the case), his quacking only gets louder ... and more annoying.

More than once I have tried to shoo Ducky, telling him to go back where he came from, but no go.  The stupid bird absolutely refuses to leave!  It is so aggravating!

Guess it was wrong for me to give the duck a name because once you do you have acquired a pet of your own.  My mistake.  So now I have a duck to raise.

Ducky sleeps outside (don't want him flinging feathers all over or him pooping in the house), right beside the front porch.  When I come outside to go to school or play, he is right at my heels, quacking loudly, I suppose, telling me all about his day.  Then I have to find ways to entertain him just so he will leave me alone.

If my friends knew I have been adopted by a wild duck, they would laugh me right out of sixth grade!  A duck is a sissy pet; why couldn't I have something more manly: like a Great Dane or a Boxer, perhaps??  No, I have to end up with a wise"quack"ing duck for a pet!  Stupid fowl!!
