A boy with oversized ears shares his story.

Hola!  Como esta usted?

My name is Paco Javiar Torrez, but most of my compadres call me Big Ears, on 'count I have big ears (ain't too hard to figure that one out!).  I am 15 years old and live with mi familia in Corscicana, Texas.

I have my Mami y Papi, mi Abuela y Abuelo (they're Mami's parents), and my six sisters: Patricia (13), Precious (12), Paloma (11), Pamela Graciela (7), Promise (5), and Prunila Esperanza (3).  I don't have any brothers:  I'm the head cheese in terms of the oldest to the youngest kid.  And I kinda like it that way, but I wish I had a brother at least where I could pal around with.

I like to do many things: play hacky-sack, soccer (futbol), baseball, basketball, swim (gotta know how to swim in order to beat the heat here in hell-hot Texas during the summer!), go to Sea World San Antonio with mi compadres and hit all the fast, dizzying rides (the scarier and higher they are the better we like 'em!), and read.  I also like to write stories and play on the computer.

At home, I speak mainly Spanish, but when out in public, I speak English.  I grew up speaking both English and Spanish; I speak both fluently.  I figure that since this is America, I had best speak English; there are people here who don't like it when we speak Spanish and will tell us what they think (and what they think ain't very nice).  I'm sorry; I can't help that I'm Mexican by heritage; it's part of who I am, but I'm also American too, as I was born here in America (Texas).

I am in the tenth grade (or will be when school starts back up in August; we go back on August 23 this year).  We got out of school on June 13, just six days ago, so summer vacation for me is still very young.  So many plans, so many dreams to try to do before school starts up again!

When I grow up, I want to be the President of the United States.  I figure I can do a much better job than the clown that's currently in the White House.  My parents can't stand him, and neither can I.

Well, that's about it for now.  Gonna make me a burrito sandwich for breakfast to try to wake up then go swimming with mi compadres for a few hours.  I will write in here again soon; until later, this is Big Ears saying adios!  Hasta luego, amigos!

~Big Ears.  :)
