Two boys get sent to jail after stealing while at the store. This isn't their first offense.

I knew it was a mistake to take those baseball cards.  I shouldn't have let Tyler talk me into doing it.  Now as a result we are both sitting in a jail cell, waiting for our parents to come pick us up or bail us out (whichever happens first).

I knew Tyler Regan was a bad egg from the very moment I first met him.  He just had that certain "look" and "attitude" about him; guess that's why I wanted to be his friend.  I was tired of being seen as "squeaky-clean", so I wanted to prove to myself (and others) that I could be just as bad as the rest of 'em.

I know my parents didn't like Tyler Regan; that's why I hung out with him.  He had the coolest stuff, stuff my parents wouldn't let me have, and I was insanely jealous.

I had been friends with Tyler for about a month when we got busted for putting cherry bombs in the toilets in the boy's john at school; we were put on detention for a few days.  We both apparently didn't learn our lesson because when we got back, we were right back to our old tricks again.  Another three days suspension (and a good grounding and talking-to from our folks, who were obviously not amused).

That was minor "kid's stuff" compared to what we would do next.  We started stealing from stores: baseball cards, pens, paper, that sort of thing.  We knew we were being watched, but we loved the thrill of taking something without paying for it first; the feeling we got was nothing quite like it in all the world.  We also got a little collection going and my friends were jealous because we had stuff they didn't.

Then came the day two days ago when we stole that new baseball collection with the 2011 World Series Champions, the St. Louis Cardinals, as the featured cards.  Oh, it was a beaut.  We both loved the Cards, so we both wanted the collection real bad.  That's when I picked up the card collection ... only to be nabbed by the clerk who saw me stuff into my pocket.  He had dealt with our games before, so he called the police, who t hen hauled us off to jail ... and that is where we sit as I write this.

We both know that we have permanent marks on our records, and we both know that we are in mega trouble with our parents.  If they don't send us to Alcatraz for the rest of our lives, I am sure the punishment they come up with will probably be about just as bad.  Oh, why did I ever end up haning with that stupid Tyler Regan for??  I'm marked for the rest of our lives; I'm a criminal at the age of 13!!!!
