Name's Veronica Rose Peabody, but most people call me Ronnie for short. I am 11 years old and live with my parents in San Antonio, Texas, at the current time. Since my birth, I have lived in Hawai'i (I was born there and lived there until I was four), Ohio, Tennessee, Montana, and now Texas.
Who knows where I will live next time my parents, both career military personnel, have to pack up and move. Time will only tell. Seems that whenever school starts, I'm always ending up becoming the new kid. It's no wonder I really can't keep many friends.
My parents are both in the Air Force. Dad's an aviation mechanic (he repairs airplanes or makes 'em work better); as for Mom, she is a medical services specialist, or medic; she works at the base hospital. She's been working there for the time we've been here in Texas (six months; this is the longest I have ever been in one place). It's a dirty job, she says, but someone's gotta do it.
I don't mind living on the base (we live in San Antonio), but there's really not much a kid my age can do except go swimming (being so hot now, we really have no choice, but they say we may get rain in our area if possible Tropical Storm Debby has anything to say about it), play my tunes, read, write to my friends I'd made in the other places I lived in (as well as our grandfolks, who live in Florida), watch tv, and hang out at the BX or auditorium if they have "military family night". Life is very simple here, especially for us kids (not so much for my parents).
When I grow up, I want to be a comic book illustrator. I am a fan of the Archies and I have a whole gob of Archie comics in my collection and I oftentimes try to draw the characters. In addition to Archie, I also like manga (Japanese style comics) and Tin Tin.
Well, Dad just got home; he must have gotten paid because he wants to take us out for dinner. That means actually leaving the base and going somewhere where the civilians (non-military people) eat. Good! I hope it's someplace like Golden Corral or the Lucky Panda Chinese Buffet; I love Chinese food and I also love buffet-style restaurants!! Either choice would make me very happy!
I will go so I can wash up and get ready. I hope you enjoyed my story. Take care and talk to y'all soon!
~Love, Veronica (Ronnie). :)
