A story about a dog, as told by his point of view.

I am a special dog, if my name is any indication.

The name's Disney.  As in Walt Disney.  Legend of television and the big silver screen.

I am a Dog.  I am an American Eskimo.  A white beauty with long, luxurious white fur, big, dark-brown eyes, a knowing smile (you Humans would probably call it a "grin"), and a big, fluffy tail that curls up and over my back.

I am a Stud.  The female Dogs, they go wild whenever they see me.  They can't seem to get enough when they come over, sniff me all over, and say "hello".  Well, I can't ge enough of them either: some of 'em smell so good!!

I live with my Humans in a two bedroom flat overlooking the Hudson River in Anytown, U.S.A.  I have a Man, a Woman, and two Small Humans (Kids) to take care of.  They are my support system and take very good care of me.  They are all doing a very wonderful job.  I am very proud of 'em!

Like most Dogs, I love to play games, dig in the dirt, rummage through garbage cans, eat, sleep, and hang out with my Humans (and fellow Canines).  In addition, I love to chase Cats, just so I can bite their tails or box their ears.

I hate cats, although the Maine Coon named Ollie isn't too bad.  He lives with us, but only because his Human had to move out of state and couldn't take him.  I tolerate him as best as I can.  It's not easy, but I do manage.

Most of the time we stay out of each other's way.  It's safer that way.

This is the time of year I hate most of all: when the stupid Humans shoot off their fireworks or firecrackers.  The noise alone is enough to send me into conniptions of fear.  The noise is very hard on our sensitive ears; whenever I hear 'em going off, I start howling piteously and dive underneath the bed; to me they sound like guns or bombs going off.  I do not like fireworks or firecrackers.  I do not understand why Humans have to enjoy them or shoot them off just to celebrate a holiday.

I think that's totally stupid.

Well, I've barked on long enough; time to put this puppy to bed and bury it in the dirt.  Take care; nice meeting y'all!

~"Disney".

Good story, my Texan friend. Being one of those Human's that love dogs... Eh, and I tolerate cats, too; but being one of those Humans that love dogs I can certainly relate to Disney's plight. Living across the street from a large man made lake, as my Human lady, actually, (as of 6/27/12) my human wife and I do have an electric boat that we take onto the lake on the night of the 4th, we always consider, if best we leave Gertie (my Human wife's "kid") and Kody (my "kid") at home or bring them onto the boat with us. As we live in an area of primarily senior people there is not too much in the way of fireworks and I think that it's safer and quieter at home so that's what I will opt to do.
Stay well...and cool my Texan friend.

I absolutely LOVE this story, Karen. Disney reminds me of my Beezers (that grinnin', kissin' fool). Well done!

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
