A woman tries to figure her boyfriend out.

Men.  Who needs 'em??  You can't live with 'em and you can't live without 'em ...

I'm trying to figure out Matthew, my boyfriend, out.  He is so unpredictable.  One minute, he is sweet and loving; the next: he's like a cobra, waiting to strike.  One never knows what kind of mood he's going to be in upon rising for the day: it's almost like walking on eggshells, especially since he lost his job at the plant last month.

He has been staying in bed, sleeping in as late as possible.  He has tried to look for work, but so far, nothing.  Nobody's hiring, they say, plus they claim that Matthew is "overqualified".  Oh, really??  How is that going to explain things?  How is that going to get food on the table??  How is that going to hinder him from getting a new job?  I tell you, sometimes life doesn't make any sense ...

I have been trying to be there for Matthew, showing my support in his time of need, but he is extremely depressed.  He keeps saying what a failure he is and why even bother when people aren't gonna hire him anyway.  I keep telling him that this is the wrong attitude to have, but he won't listen.  As I write this, Matthew is lying in bed, the covers pulled up over his head, and the windwo shades pulled down: he doesn't want to talk to anybody, even me.  He just throws his pillow at me and screams at me to leave him alone.

Guess I will keep clear of him until he gets over his pity party and tries to help himself.  I can't do everything for him: I have my own life (and job) to lead!

Before his job situation, Matthew was rather amorous: he wanted sex 24 hours a day.  I told him that I couldn't do it and he got mad at me; he wouldn't talk to me for a few days (when we weren't making love, that is).  It's no wonder I didn't get any sleep at times.  It was nothing short of ridiculous!

Then you have his beer drinking buddies to consider.  During baseball (or football) games on the weekends, he and his friends would gather together and I got tired of cleaning up empty beer cans, food, and dirt from the carpet (and the rest of the livingroom), especially when my sister brought her son over. I didn't want Clayton exposed to that crap, so I got after him and told Matthw point blank: "It was either the sports or me.  You can't have both".  That was when Matthew threw his beer drinking chums out of the house.

It's really been bad.  We both could use a miracle, but Matthew is the one who really needs it.  Just keep him in your prayers; I (and he) would greatly apprecaite it!  Thanks in advance!
