A story about two baby Pomeranians, as told by their owner.

Peanut and Pansy are a pair.  Where there is one, you're bound to see the other following close behind.  They are usually always together.

Peanut and Pansy are brother and sister.  They are eight weeks old, as lively as the dickens, with bright, beady black eyes that miss little, fluffy, long fur (Peanut is the color of ... well, peanuts, hence his name; as fir his sister, she is coal-black), tiny ears that stick straight up, and adorable, sweet foxy faces.  They look like cotton balls with legs, tails, and heads.  They are so cute!

My husband, Jon, and I adopted them from the pound a week ago; they've kept us on our toes ever since.

Jim wanted to have a dog.  We looked and shopped around, but nothing really seemed to capture our fancy.  Then we went to the animal shelter up the road from where we live, and we happened to catch sight of these ever-wriggling, yipping, fluffy fur balls.  It was love at first sight.  We knew we had to have them; so we left that day with two Pomeranians.

When they are up, Peanut and Pansy demand our fullest attention.  We have to walk them, clean up their messes, feed and water them, and make sure that they won't get into any mischief.  Easier said than done.  It's like having two toddlers in the house; they won't leave us be alone for a minute!  Still we don't regret it: Peanut and Pansy are two of the cutest little puppies this side of Heaven!

Peanut and Pansy won't get big when full grown.  Compared to a lot of dogs, they'll still be relatively small, weighing no more than 4 to 7 pounds, so they won't eat us out of house or home or take up half of the bed.  There'll be plenty of room for them to romp around and play, both inside and out, and we will do our utmost best to keep them safe from harm.  We will do everything possible to keep Peanut and Pansy from the grips of Killer Kitty (aka Mittens, our 30 pound Maine Coon who, until now, ruled the roost; now he's going to have to get used to the competition; he isn't too happy about it either!).

We know we have a lot of work cut out for us, but we are mighty glad to have Peanut and Pansy as members of our family.  It won't be easy at times, but at least Peanut and Pansy now have a forever home and a family they can call their very own!  It's much better than the alternative: a death sentence because nobody cared enough to adopt them in time!
