Man vs. Dog vs. Cat

I arrived  in the kichen to see Miss Daisy perched on the kitchen counter while Mad Dog the Puppy lept up and down trying to reach her on her high ground.

Miss Daisy knew that Mad Dog the Puppy could not reach her there and pranced and paced back and forth on her high ground driving Minion crazy.

He thought she was playing a game when she left-pawed the air but then struck out landing a swipe along one side of Minion's  face. His fur cushioned the blow and Miss Daisy pulled back only a paw full of fur.

Surprized at what he considered rough play, Minion countered with a look that said

"I will soon have me a some cat fur in my jaws."

Miss Daisy now serious, countered with a right paw squarely to the nose, making an red angry stripe appear.

Minion yelped--stunned at the cruelty of the act--and looked back at me as if to say "Cats Don't Play Fair!"

I moved to Minon to pick him up and to save his eyeball from a cat-swipe and he, feeling hurt, whined at Miss Daisy, who magestically lept down from the counter to move with slow deliberate motion toward the back door, her tail high, showing Minion her poo-poo end as cats are wont to do.

I opened the back door as Miss Daisy took her sweet time making up her mind to go out as Minion squirmed in my arms barking furiously trying to let me know she was getting away and that I was to stop her.

I turned from the door and took Minion back to the chair still puzzled as to how he got away in the first place.

He had chewed through his cloth lease and as I sat him down I tied one end of the chewed though lease around his neck and attached him again to the chair while I thought of what would be my permanent solution.

He looked at me re-attaching him to the cloth lease smirking I'm sure.

I attched him, opened the front door and went out side searching for the tool that would make escape for him impossible- a length of chain I used for the other two dogs.

I can back inside, a smirk on my own face and Minion had chewed through the second cloth chain in record time, a look of triumpth on his face inviting me to have a romp with him, totally having forgotten about Miss Daisy, his nose, the cloth chain and everything. His attention span was minus 2 seconds.

I smiled benignly, stroked the fur around his neck cleverly attaching the metal chain and sat down slowly in my chair to await his reaction.

It came immediately when he sought to move--the chain made a huge rattling sound and it terrified him.

He lept up, and the chain followed him naturally and that freaked him out all the more-dog and chain fell into a tangled heap at my feet.

He squirmed got up and ran between my legs imploring me to save him from the metal snake attached to his neck.

I reached down and stroked his head saying softly, "If you remain very very quiet, the snake will not bite you. Very very quiet" I said with false sincerity.

He looked at me and back at the trailing snake and seemed to understand and lay down at my feet.

I sat back in my chair for a long moment satisfied that human kind can outsmart dog if human kind is willing to work at it, immensely amused after a moment when I heard noises which I was sure was dog trying to chew through the metal links of the chain-tooth crunching sounds.

To be continued.
