All you have to do is ask......
Aletha Hinthorn of Come to the Fire fame, reminded me in a recent blog we need to pray before we read the Bible. We pray before we eat, so why not pray before we study. I have always drug out reference books, another study Bible, notes, whatever it took when I didn't quite understand the meaning of a scripture verse.
What a revelation.....pray about it? Wow, Mrs. Hinthorn is brilliant!
I have struggled for so many years at times wondering what a passage in the Bible meant, when it was so obvious......all I had to do was "ask" (pray).
James 1:5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.
And the verse after that reminds me of my "childlike" faith. Like my little granddaughter one day before our walk we had prayed for rain. She stopped at the door, ran back for an umbrella.....
James 1:6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind.
And.....
James 1:7 For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double minded man, unstable in all his ways.
