A Place In Time

Where do we stand in the scheme of things?

Who am I that incorporates a small part of my earth?

Am I like the sand of the oceans, or like the sparkling stars that shine for all to see? I’d like to think of myself more like a shining star, which may be found most poetic.

For me, I am here by the Grace of my God, so I must be a worthy part of the whole, just as those around me. I am not here just to take up space, which that I do, I’ll admit; but I must have a purpose. We all need a purpose.

Could it be that I have words to write, songs to sing, music to play? Could it be that I should do no more than to collect a bit of each of these, then pass them on to others? No, that wouldn’t be me; I have to be more involved.

I want to write…no, I NEED to write; I have something to say that I want others to know about. Whether it sparks another’s imagination, a chord in their heart, or a thought in their mind, I will write it. I may be able to take others to another place and time that they were unaware of…or of which they were unaware (the latter, that is best grammatically).

I love to sing, although I’m not the best of singers. However, there are so many songs in my heart that must be sung and brought back to the edge of other’s memories…like “Stardust”,or “Chatanooga Cho-Cho”, or “Danny Boy” or “Sweet Mollie Malone”…or…(are you humming, or tapping your toes, yet?)

As to the music: I do play great CDs. But, hey, I also play a little bit on the piano and organ. I’ve even strummed some great tunes on my ukulele. Do you remember “Five Foot Two”, or “Blue Moon”, or “I Wanna Go Back To My Little Grass Shack In Keoka..(something) Hawaii”?

Well, I no longer have my piano, or my organ, and the strings are loose on my uke…so here I am left with my words. Words, to me, are like the shining stars at night: always finding a new one; like our Earth: round and full with so much to be discovered.

I am but a place in time
for all to find and see.
If, perchance, you come my way,s
it a while for a cup o’ tea.

We’ll talk about old times
and for things yet to be.
For the world is not just our oyster,
but a place in time for you and me.
