I've been writing professionally for 13 years. It took 8 years to finally get "Wound Too Tight" published, and "Mystery of the Attic" the following year. My mystery series has finally come to life, after trying for 7 years. I had to become GumShoe Press just to get these books accepted by any/every bookstore. I wouldn't really say I've had great success, not at the level I want to achieve. But thanks to being very stubborn and never giving up, I've achieved much as far as meeting wonderful people; authors, agents, bookstore managers/owners, and those who are just nice enough to offer assistance in any way possible. I've learned how to market and promote my own work, set up book signings and appearances, and get my books included in special events, reviews, contests, and awards. Networking is a beautiful thing.
So, I'd like to thank the many people that have assisted with my continued success: Sandler Selling Systems, James Lilley, Barb Peters, every bookstore manager that's allowed me to be there and are still carrying my books, Spotlight Publicity, and all the schools where I've appeared, as well as Alterface for making an amusement park ride out of Mystery of the Attic and those theater directors that have made adaptations of my books. |
