  Mario Watts's Success Story
Where do I begin?

Whenever asked to talk about myself or my life, I have always found it hard to do considering that there are so many other people in the world, who have gone through what Iíve gone through, or maybe worse.

To begin, I was born in Barstow, CA to parents who struggled from day-to-day to make ends meet both financially and as a wife and husband. Soon after my birth, my mother and I moved to North Carolina to start a new life, following her separation with my father. It was a bold step for the both of us, but somehow we made it through.
As a child new to life, not having any fears, my mother was the center of my world and only now can I truly appreciate her dedication to me as a mother and a single parent. Now Iím not going to sugar-coat the facts and say that life was great. My childhood was different than most, where I dealt with the hardships of living in a single-parent home moving from household to household and a mother who felt that alcohol, was her only escape from the hardships she faced. Several years passed and a prosperous future together seemed hopeless, in a society that indiscreetly doomed us to failure. My mother soon gave up entirely, where even the value of her own life, mattered to her not. There were many days, where all I had to eat, was buttered bread, or food that was brought to us by family members and friends. Then, just when life seemed to be at its worse, my mother found God. Through God, she found the strength to recuperate and our lives together improved slowly. Keeping her faith in God, she realized that she had the power to change not only her life, but everyone she came in contact with, telling people about Gods love. Shortly after her recovery, she became a substance abuse counselor and found courage and hope in the lives she touched. It was this very hope that nurtured me through the years of pain both she and I endured, knowing that God was by our side.
My mother became my teacher and my guide through life, pushing me to excel in everything that I could. Using her strength, I did my best, even through school. Throughout school, I was always an honor student, knowing that the only way to change the life that was dealt to me, was to be all that I could be. Internally, my personal goal and dream was to someday make a difference in the world. This dream shortly came to life, when I discovered my true calling Ö writing.
After school, I continued writing and focused on ways to open peopleís minds through the use of imagination. Pen to paper, was how I started out, not realizing that I would some day become an author.
In November of 2000, I lost my best friend in the world Ö my mother. Her death hit me like a ton of bricks, finding myself a victim of the old saying, ďYou never know what youíve got until itís gone.Ē Through life, we depended on one another, fighting each battle with hope, never realizing or giving much thought to the reality that tomorrow is not promised. After her loss, I felt as though my whole world had crumbled, remembering not only the bad times, but the good times we shared and the unconditional love that could only exist between a mother and a son. Months following her death, I was faced with many challenges. Challenges that even today I struggle to keep at bay. Nevertheless, I pressed on, realizing that in life, we can never rely that the people we love will always be there and it is important to take with you the love, desire and hope that grew between you.
With this, I pressed on to follow my dreams of making a difference in the world through writing. Then in June of 2002, I published my first book. New to the scene, I was fearful of the reactions I was going to get from my readers. Time went by and my readers started posting their feedback on sites like Amazon.com and Barnes&Noble.com. After reading their reviews, I was shocked to see that people were actually interested in my work, that grew from solely my imagination. For the first time in my life, I finally felt like a made a difference and my dreams had become a reality!
The rest Ö well letís just say, if you reach high enough, you WILL one day touch the stars.

Much love to all off you that support me and enjoy my work. You purchases of my calendars and books are very much appreciated and thank you for making my dream a reality.

May God continue to be with you and bless you, for the rest of your life!

Much love and peace,
