  Rex Lee Reynolds's Success Story
Having enjoyed writing for many years, beginning in the early eighties with some sci-fi short stories, I eventually found it quite helpful to have a few of my books reviewed by some of the best literary agents of the time. But when it came to getting over the publishing hurtle for the first time it didn't seem all so promising.

After sending all those query letters and getting rejection slips, which happens to so many of us, in 2002 it was something of an exciting experience to hear from a small publisher that was interested in one of my self-help Internet technical books.

Even though the publisher explained that there would be no advance, it was still exciting to sign the contract and finally see my book in print 24 months later in 2004. The printing and publishing process that took 24 months to happen after signing was explained by the publisher with his usual excuse. He used my least favorite four-letter word of "busy."

The excitement started to leave me when asking if there were any sales, and the small publisher told me there had been some sales, although few, and he was going to send me some money.

When the money never came I told the publisher to take my books off his website, and looked at my copies of the books the publisher had sent, and told myself that one can never have too much firewood.

In the next few years I wrote a romantic comedy book and mystery novel and played the query letter and rejection slip game again. With nothing but a lot of rejection slips, I let my two books collect dust for a while.

In May of 2009 things brightened up a bit when a neighbor, friend and fellow author asked me if I had been doing any writing. I told him I had but didn't have a publisher. He mentioned the name of a publisher, and I had my two books in print and published within just a few weeks. My total cost for getting my books into print and available for download as e-Books was less than $20 per book.

In January of 2010 I published a third book with the same publisher, Checklist For Publishing & Selling Your Books, which includes things that I had experienced in my years of writing, that I wanted to share with others that might also be having problems getting their works published. This book was dedicated to my friend who told me about the publisher.
