| Me? Write a book? Never! I'm now 65, and it's not too long ago that these were my thoughts. You see, I'm a print-on-demand author. I chose this publishing route because I thought I was too old to fight all those rejection letters from traditional publishers. I'm not sorry I did it either. For my first order, my wife and I discussed whether 100 was too many. Would we be able to sell all those books? We took a chance, got out the charge card, and ordered them anyway. I sold that many before my first signing. I'm now working on 2100. It has been a delightful ride! My readers have been food for my ego, most of them saying: "Your book made me laugh, and it made me cry," and "When are you going to write us another book?" Well, it is in the process, but it's slow going for the time being. I've had a lot of medical problems that prevent me from sitting for long periods at the computer. Perhaps one day another book will come to fruition, but right now I cannot say for certain when that dream will become a reality. |
