From ever since I can remember, I was different from most kids my age. Reading has always been my passion. I used to withdraw to my little corner and lose myself in my favorite children stories. For my birthday, everyone knew what gift would make me happy: a book. Nothing less!
My father always told me that one day I would do something great. He believed that books could be used as a major influence on people's minds and as a place of escape. My father passed away in 1999 without seeing even the tip of my accomplishment. At the time of his death, I had no idea that I was going to translate my love for reading into writing my own book. He knew it, but I didn't. I mean, I always knew that I had an author in me, but at the time I wasn't focusing on my passion for writing.
And so, life went on until one day I heard a voice say: "yeah, you can write this book." It wasn't difficult for me to decipher what the voice was insinuating. It was telling me my purpose. It was telling me that humans go through experiences so that they can leave legacies that can affect generations to come. Neddless to say, ever since that day, God has been providing for my work every step of the way.
I have learned that all my experiences were designed to make me stronger so that I can be a giver in this world, not just a taker. It only took me three weeks to write Facing Our Skeletons (excluding editing and final touch of course). The manuscript was accepted by the first publisher that I sent it to(after careful research, of course). Success to me is knowing that my dark days can be used as a shining lamp for someone else. My success is that I overcame my struggles by tranferring all of the negative energy that I had inside to positive so that my experiences and knowledge can help someone else heal. I started the work, I trust God to finish it. |
