| When I retired six years ago I adopted writing fiction as my avocation. I chose the study of what would happen when a giant earthquake once again struck the New Madrid Fault in the central US as the background for my plot. Last year after searching for an agent I decided to self-publish, and just this last month my novel, Memphis 7.9, Book 1 of The 7.9 Scenario won Honorable Mention at MidSouthCon 22 in the Darrell Award competition for Best Science Fiction novel.
