  Everett Beal's Success Story
Forty years ago Martin Luther King was assassinated.Today I couldn't help but reflect on that particular time when all hell broke loose at a little town in Georgia. I sacrificed several years by opening a pharmacy and working a hundred hours a week getting established.

Through my beginning years I had a colored porter and a colored girl doing odd jobs.They later were called blacks.I was in a neighborhood with 33 doctors offices,the hospital, a few businesses and I helped to raise many of the children by caring for them when in need of their medicine.Most all of them still, 'til this day are in debt to me, which I turned the page on that.Intergation was spreading rapidly.

Yep, this anniversary, which you celebrate and morn I reminisce the terrors,sounds of sirens, fires from Molotov Cocktails, groups of these boys strolling the blocks to dream up a gotcha back plan.Businesses were firebombed around me and that caused me from here on to make my pharmacy headquarters.I had an arsenal behind my counter, a sleeping bag on the floor and beginning the MLK frightful night I was prepared to shoot anyone who even thought about firebombing my business.

I slept on that hard tile,concrete floor for quite a few months until the disturbance was calmed.

So my friends, I find very little to celebrate except the fact that on those nights I mentally began my first book;
SOUTHERN WINDS and wrote a poem I titled
WHO PAID THE PRICE?

Thirty-Two years later I wrote this poem on MLK"S assignation at the last of Southern Winds.I have accunulated many outstanding reviews from this work of art and personally know about the color of the skin and content of character.I have no qualms about those days, but I will never forget that excerpt.
When I turn back the pages of my history I enjoy reading what many folks have written and thanked
me for writing Southern Winds.

Yes, I lived to witness Segregation and Integration blended in with all the changes.Who knows what will be next in store for us.This book is Southern American history which I cannot help but say;
This heritage is flowing like a river, out to sea.Please share.
WAKE UP America !!!
