" Are you crazy?? Come on--stop playing."
"No!" She said, "I'm serious! This is good David, really good! You should get it published!"
"Oh, get outta here... You...uh, you really think it's 'that' good?" I ventured shyly.
"Yes, yes I do. You should really do something with this!"
And that was twenty years ago as a co-worker named Monique at IBM did her best to convince me to do something with my poetry other than let it collect copious amounts of dust.
Ironically, even after succesfully writing two previous books, I still left my poetry to lay undisturbed in piles of papers and ancient boxes until this year. I must thank God, the wonderful folks who started Authorsden.com and you--you the readers and my fellow authors here on this site. It is because of your wonderful response to my work and continual encouragement that I finally decided to compile over 30 years worth of raw emotion, brush-stroked on paper with pen and tears, into a book that I call so appropriately 'My Secret Heart...'
Through agony, disappointment and three operations, I'm amazed and delighted to be able to say to Monique, where ever she maybe, that at last, it's done...
To all the authors, readers and fellow poets on authorsden.com, you guys are tha best, and I delight in sharing this, my success with you... |
