  Glen D. Lovelace's Success Story
This kind of success story may be related, somehow, to having had something of mine published, but who knows? It is about my progressingly successful recovery from a life-threatening illness, and it is posted here at AD for the holistic benefit of any reader who is now suffering an illness of any kind and for any generally interested reader.

In late August 2003, a 5cm-wide-small-cell-4th-stage malignant tumor was found near the bronchial entry to the upper lobe of my right lung.

CANCER ??? . . . ! ! !

"Too late for radiation or surgery:
Without chemotherapy, you'll be dead in six months!"

Today, late October (same year), the 3rd round (of probably 5, one-month rounds of drip-infused chemicals and medicinal cleansing-waters) began. Tonight, after ten drip-drip-drippy-dripping hours and an 'unbelievably' delicious hospital dinner of, uh...somethin'or'nother, I am in the hospital bed, not at all sleepy...typing this story...neither me nor the story wondering which--in the healing process--comes first: careful medication or humor-powered attitude?

Chemotherapy makes me feel good when I'm sick!
Chemotherapy when I feel good makes me sick!

I know they complement each other, so add that Two-in-One confidence to the "already-believed-in" (or the "you'd-better-believe-it") psychic energy pouring in from the loving prayers and best wishes of families and friends worldwide--while rejecting self-belittling fear and dispondencey--and the chances for recovery are superb (even 'incalculably miraculable')!

The 5cm-wide tumor has shrunk by 80%, thanks to THAT Three-in-One therapy and, I do further believe, to THE UNKNOWN WORD who(?)which, before and ever since the beginning of space~time~mind, holds Us -- both, each, and all -- consciously-responsible and collectively-obliged for sustaining this wonder-full, experimental Miracle Universe and the Myriad Miracles within by maintining our Speck and our Species (despite WORD's seeming indifference to and in spite of mankind's wholly-murderous nationalistic--and holy hah-hah--religious wars). (I digress, do I?)

OK, but not just tumor-shrinkage! As well, hardly any side-effects at all: no nausea, mild diarrhea, lost weight (regained, thanks to my wife's nutritional sense and cooking skills--good in my case 'cause I's already underweight), and some lost head-hairs. (At 65 years, who but most women--maybe most men--needs 'em? ...that's all right! But I'd just as soon laugh without 'em ... none of 'em ... grow, instead, a full -- if ya know what I mean -- snow-white beard.) And quintessential thanks to my oncology team, too! Dr. Tamura, with a professionally concealed smile (though clearly discernible) and a positive nuance in his eyes, consistently hints at "foo-loo lee-ka-ba-lee" (full recovery) by late December: I believe him, them, and that, too!

**See EVENTS {my den} for plentifully excerpted power-messages of families and friends (including AuthorsDen co-authors) who sent the loving prayers, the good will, and the humor which are supporting my recovery...helping me to stay alive...also prompting me to affirm and confirm the dynamic psychic healing-energy of I/WE, and encouraging my will to continue imagining, creating, and sharing.

Update December, 2003

Despite my Doctor's opinion that no further than 80% tumor shrinkage could be expected, it went on to shrink another 15%. I am now receiving a different kind of chemo-infusions called maintenance therapy: 3 consecutive days, once a month for 3 months. All therapy will be finished by mid-January. Then I will live, live, live...until I do something else.

Update 04/10/04

I am fortunate and grateful for it. Nothing remains of the turmor but a scar. I continue to have a bi-monthly CT scan, chest x-ray, and blood test. May all who have cancer keep faith, maintain hope, and never stop laughing (even into to Face of Death)!
