Participating in America's largest pet rescue effort to date after Hurricane Katrina, and receiving the 2006 Merial Human-Animal Bond Award for my book about this experience, Through Katrina's Eyes, Poems from an Animal Rescuer's Soul, have been my most meaningful accomplishments so far.
In addition, my nature inspired book, Where The Redwing Sings, has won the Poetry Category in the 2009 Green Book Festival.
Today, I still find myself involved in animal rescue efforts because of our abysmal economy; and I still do whatever I can to help America's numerous left behind pets, one animal at a time.
And my life-long love of both Animals and Nature continues to inspire both my passion for being one of their ardent advocates, and for writing books, poems, stories, and articles about them, and also in my undying belief that we human beings should be their diligent guardians and protectors, not their barbaric, callous, greed-filled, destroyers.
