An American Poem - Or I How Won A book Award With a Borrowed Dream
Just recently at the 2003 Epicon in Tampa, sponsored by the Electronic Publishing Internet Connection, a book I had worked, slaved, cursed, brooded, despaired, and cried over won for best poetry collection.
American Lyricon: A Poet Sings of America is a book that tells the story of America through song, with history, whimsy, love, grit, and a little hope and loss as well.
It was a love poem to my heroes as well as family that made this country what it was, and what it could be.
For all the tragedy, controversy, that's risen from the war, the rallies here for and against, paralleled my hardships with Lyricon.
If I were to count the number of those who helped, gave, and blessed, I cannot comprehend.
The book was a mission of love, and a letter to Walt Whitman; and Leaves of Grass; and to the spirit, when I ever hear the American voice, Whitman's, "I hear America Singing" comes to mind.
Authorsden assisted in that endeavor as much anyone.
I was able to get an interview from the UK. It was for a different book but I'd like to think AD for the service and assistance.
All of I have is my poetry. I was never much for anything. And the Eppie was the first thing I ever won in my life.
Well in school, I got the standard certificates, a band trophy, etc, but never like this.
Thanks to AD for the showcase, and to the world, may blessings find us all with a quick resolution to the war.
