  Mary Terzian's Success Story
In October 2006 I was pleasantly surprised when I found out my book had won a Best Books 2006 Award in the multicultural, non-fiction category. I thought the judges had made a mistake.

Then, in July 2007, "The Immigrants' Daughter" placed finalist in the National Indie Excellence 2007 Book Awards. I went numb. It certainly added a few badly needed inches to my height and a few degrees of confidence in my writing abilities.

Later, in 2012 I won Dan Poynter's 2012 Global E-book Award in multicultural, nonfiction I even attended the Awards Ceremony!

All three nominations for the same book, crowned by a Writers' Digest judge's high evaluation, certainly convinced me that I had joined the professinal ranks.

So when I was invited to Armenia for a conference of "Writers of Armenian Origin Composing in Other Languages" I did not hesitate to accept the invitation. With several publications dating as far back as the 1960's, a book, another due soon, support from two critique groups and an army of fans to boot I had earned my "Author and Freelance Writer" title.

I am beginning to think books have acquired nine lives: print, Braille, audio, video, translation, cloud next? and . . . the last three formats not born yet, or were they stillborn?

I hope the best is yet to come. Creativity feeds itself. It may flicker sometimes but those are moments of insemination, when new ideas clog your brain, push each other to get to the surface, finally fall in line and come out in a stream, similar to the miracle of a baby's birth: growing pains, labor, delivery, hurray! Will it have a future? We call a book a brainchild, don't we? with one exception. A book is an immaculate conception.
