I began writing in the late 1980s. Since then I've written sixteen books, about equally divided between fiction and non-fiction. My non fiction have mostly been bestsellers and received wonderful reviews in The New York Times, Washington Post, etc, leading to my reviewing several books for the New York Times.
My fiction (thriller and fantasy) found about 350,000 readers and again received wonderful reviews. Since 2000 I have focused on fantasy, and most particularly teenage/ adult fantasy, with my lead character, Alan Duval, an American.
My books have been featured in more than a dozen television documentaries, including Horizon and World in Action on the same day.
I've also written a science fiction thriller, The Doomsday Genie, based on a WMD attack on the US. I've used my knowledge of science to make the scientific background more real than you would usually find in science fiction. It is a frightening read, so please be prepared.
I have occasionally self published books, usually because publication was linked to a major sponsor. And I have worked as a sectional editor with one or two publishing houses, so I have quite a wide experience of writing and publishing.
All the best,
Frank Ryan |
