"Bader Field" my latest book began in my unconscious in August of 1973 when my father died suddenly at the brief age of 58. My mind was a blur from the shock but the story had begun.
After more than 25 years of struggle my writing and rewriting was finished and my story was told as Nightengale Press published the book.
The book became an instant hit as it impacted its readers by drawing them in to our family's life in a way they never expected. Smiles, tears, shock, but most of all love permeate and infect as the pages speak loudly creating an inability to look away.
What began as homage to my father, an extraordinary being in all respects, ultimately developed into the gripping story of how our family lived through and survived the suicide of my older brothers when I was just sixteen. It is a journey of love, forgiveness and acceptance. Suicide is a leading cause of death among teens and young adults today. It must be widely exposed to unshackle the bonds of secrecy which house the stigma of shame that keeps it alive. It is my hope that my darkest days will raise awareness of the wake of horror that forever pains surviving family members and gives light and hope to anyone at that very edge of desperation, showing them that there is always a better way.
