I hear a lot of people talking about changing their lives. They have big dreams of fancy homes, fine new cars, trips, vacations and lots of money in their bank accounts.
They will talk for hour on end telling everyone all the great things they are dreaming and wishing for and will one day have.
They continue in great detail with what my mother called Pipe dreams.
A pipe dream is a series of things you want but never do anything about. This is the stage where most people spend most of their lives.
Pipe dreams tend to never call for action. You never get your emotions and actions involved in your pipe dreams.
Pipe drains simply provide a comfortable place to rest and dream some more.
In these faraway and one day dreams, not much is required of the dreamer. The dreamer can sit and dream and wonder why the dreams never come true, never understanding that he is creating a life filled with only pipe dreams and little more.
Wishful thinking is another term used for dreams and hopes that doesnít require action.
Neither pipe dreams nor wishful thinking call for the dreamer to take action or responsibility for their own life.
These dreamers also spend a lot of time and energy telling everyone who will listen why they donít have all these dreamed of and hoped for things yet.
They talk for hours about body aches, bad luck and how this is just the way it is. They dream big for a while and talk trash for the better part of the time.
By talking trash I mean rehashing gripes, complaints and having one pity party after another. They donít change anything inside or out, yet donít understand why things never change.
They probably came from a long line of people who thought and believed this way as well. Parents and grandparents who thought live was tough and you just stuck it out until one-day death relieved you of it all.
There might have been a few dreamers in the tribe, but they found it impossible to climb over the high wall of well meaning family members who believed only in hard times.
Generation after generation of people who just gave in and gave up on a better life. They bought hook, line and sinker, the story of life being hard and only the few having it easy.
Perhaps you are one of these people.
If so, you do have the power to change yourself and thereby change your life. Something got your attention and made you think that just perhaps you could do it differently than those who came before you.
Perhaps you are just plain tired of being sick, poor and depressed and will try anything to feel better.
Fuel for the Dreamers Fire
Once The Secret came out on dvd, people got really excited about creating a life of wonder and abundance.
They spent a lot of money investing in books and videos that promised a magical and powerful new way to create the life of their dreams with little or no work on their part.
They gathered to themselves a lot of pretty mantras and nice platitudes and spent their days and nights dreaming of how the Universe was going to magically create for them the life of their dreams.
They read the books and watched the videos and their excitement grew by leaps and bounds. They were filled with passion for this new life style of riches and ease.
They were on an emotional high, sure that wishing on a star would bring about the very things they had always dreamed of.
They did nothing any different than what they had always done, they simply wished and day dreamed harder, and thought they had found the magic answer to having all they wanted without having to do or change anything to get it.
Most people missed the conversations in the movie, which talked about action. They simply tuned it out and heard only if you dream, you receive.
The Fire Dies Down
Many months later these same people began to feel frustrated and even angry at Source for not following through for them.
Why, they asked does it work for others and not for ME?
Thatís what this book is aboutÖ sort of..
More correctly, how do I work with the Law of Attraction to co-create the life I really want to experience?
What is the real secret to success, joy, and happiness?
Iíve met many people the last several months who have read many books on creative manifesting, placed vision boards throughout their home, and yet still find themselves in the same circumstances.
Several of these people have told me how twice a day they spend 15 minutes imagining their new homes, new cars, vacations, and great wealth.
If you think about it itís rather funny.
Imagine for just a moment spending 30 minutes each day thinking wonderful positive thoughts and 23 in Ĺ hours a day not believing those wonderful thoughts.
For 23 Ĺ hours a day unsuccessful, unhappy, and sick people expect and believe that life is hard.
How could any one hope to create anything any different than what they believe in and anticipate from life?
Yet, this is what hundreds of thousands of people do every day of their life.
Since childhood most people have accepted the belief systems of others.
Most people have been brainwashed their whole lives by well intentioned people who felt they were doing a grand favor sharing their belief of how hard life always is.
The retelling of the story of misery, and suffering has been told generation after generation.
Each generation has made a tradition of and placed those who suffer the most in the highest esteem.
How many thousands, maybe even millions of times, have we been told how hard and difficult life just is?
I wouldnít even want to guess.
Suffering your beliefs
Thatís just what you and many others have done for your whole lifetime, youíve suffered due to your beliefs.
We tend to feel very passionate about our beliefs and traditions and hug them closely to us. We donít want to ever let go of the foundation upon which we have built our self-esteem, our place in the world and our expectations.
Here is the problem with your life and the law of attraction. This principle, law, is always at work.
It never fails.
It can only continue to attract what you most passionately believe in and expect.
It doesnít matter what these beliefs are, where they come from or whether they are what you say you want.
Thoughts and emotions are energy.
Thoughts and emotions attract to themselves similar thoughts, passions and ultimately like circumstances.
It can do no different.
Thus, until you change youÖ your core beliefs and expectations about yourself, your life, your place in the world.. Nothing will or can change.
Now consider your core beliefs and where they came from. Without changing these core beliefs, a few pretty platitudes will no more give you a firm foundation on which to create your life then whitewashing a rotten fence will restore the wood.
You can cover your home in vision boards, meditate on your dreams, cry out for help, and end up feeling very frustrated.
This is the great power you have to create from your place of beliefs and expectations. Until and unless you change, nothing can change,
What do I do
Understand and accept this, you are a co creator with the Universe. You do have the power and you use it all the time, to create your circumstances and your life exactly as you expect it.
The problem is your beliefs and expectations are based on what you do not want rather than on what you do want.
Changing your life is a very simple thing.
I did not say it was easy, I said it was simple.
You have already made one of most important steps towards changing your life. You have finally come to understand that you are responsible for everything in your life.
You already understand on some level that you have worked together with source energy to create your life experiences.
Each person, each life partner, each friend, where you live, your job, your health, and your happiness are all your creations.
This is a very big and very powerful insight.
You made the decision that you will now understand how and why you create everything in your life experience.
You will gain insight into the role passion plays in creation.
Figuring out what you want
A lot of people at this point have a general idea of what it is they really do want.
They say things like a new home, a car, a perfect relationship, and more money.
Desiring these things is common to most people.
These are the basics of our life.
We know that we need of shelter, relationships with others, and a means to health, food, utilities and transportation.
The key word here is WANT>>> the lack of.
Your attention is always on what you donít have; thus you continue to attract this at a steady rate.
Most of the time your energy is more on what you donít have rather than what you do really desire.
As long as most of your energy, your focus and attention is on LACK, lack is what you continue to attract in a steady stream.
A great way to get clear on what is that you really want is to make a list of all the things that are now in your life that you do not want.
This is a very easy step in gaining understanding.
You know what you donít want.
You are surrounded by it day after day.
Take a few minutes to write down all the things in your daily life that you complain about worry about, and feel bad about. After just a few minutes you will probably have a pretty long list.
If these things have been in your life for a very long time and seem to be part of the program, then it is time to get clear.
Watch Those Feelings
Be aware as you make your list how you feel. Have these feelings been with you for many, many years?
Understand that the feelings you have about what you donít want are the energy you use to create these things and these circumstances over and over again.
The power that you used to create your life is not found only in your thoughts.
The greatest power is found in your emotions.
Your emotions indicate what you really believe in, and expect from life.
Your self-talk is an indicator of these beliefs and expectations about your self and your place in the world.
Understand that the passion you feel about your present circumstances and the lack in your life is what continues this cycle of not having anything different.
The frustration, anger, sadness and loneliness are giant magnets always pulling in more of the same.
Feeling are very important and the ultimate power to create.
Just thinking and wanting are weak radio signals, you get a little of several stations, but none comes in clear enough to enjoy the music.
FEEL YOUR FEELINGS
Look over your list of things that you are just plain sick and tired of in your life. How do you feel about them?
Be honest; be real about these feelings.
Pretending that you are ok with it and itís all gonna work out one day, does nothing to change your circumstances.
One of the favorite mantras of people who keep creating poverty for themselves is ďit will all work outĒ.
These types of thoughts and the beliefs behind them keep you in a constant state of things having to ďwork outĒ.
It might be helpful at this point to write down how you feel about your life.
Go into detail about how you feel.
Get it all out there on paper and you will not only feel better but help to clear the way for something different.
A lot of the time people think they can change circumstances by avoiding their emotions. They bottle them up and slap a mantra of ď it will work outĒ, on the problem.
This bottling up of emotions is the major cause of dis-ease!
Emotions are important to us. They are the indicators, the traffic lights, of our lives, that get our attention about what we are creating.
Pretending you are happy when in reality you are terrified will take a very long time to create anything any differently that what you already feel.
Be honest with yourself during this step.
Itís very important that you are aware of your inner feelings. Donít hold them in; let them out so you can release them.
If you continue to hold in all the old emotions and force feelings that you donít believe in on top of them, you are likely to get an upset similar to shaking a bottle of soda pop.
If fear is at the core of your beliefs, honesty will aid you in releasing it and moving on to hope and faith.
Changing Want to Desire
Now that you are clear about what you do not want itís time to decide what you really do desire.
I donít much care for the word want to describe my life creations.
Want is a lack, a state of doing without and not having that need met.
A very important indicator into your belief system is how often you think in terms of want and need.
Do you experience an empty feeling that you often fill with food, drink, work, etc to extreme?
Extreme behaviors and habits are most often the result of this sense of need that is not being met.
We spend so many years and so much energy focused on the unmet needs and wants in our lives that they become very natural to us and our thinking.
This is why just offering beautiful phrases and spending a few moments each day will not change the ďcoreĒ you.
Steps have to be taken to open your awareness into these beliefs and the constant affect they have on your life.
To help clarify what you desire go back to your list of donít wants. Read over them again and allow yourself to feel the affect on your life.
Your emotions are so closely linked to your experiences.
Your emotions are the fuel with which you continue to create.
So the cycle continues until you clear your expectations and beliefs.
Letís start by using your list of ďproblemsĒ and donít wants that are now in your life to help you form a base of your real desires.
Each thing, circumstance that is not how you want to experience it has a flip side, a side that is indeed the life you wish to experience.
This helps to clarify your desires when these things are looked at in this way.
Beside each item on your list change it to express your true desires.
For example; if you wrote that you were tired of being sick or being in pain, right out beside it that you desire to experience a healthy and balanced body.
You might continue by saying that you would love to go on long walks, or engage in sports.
Be very specific about why you desire what you desire. Allow yourself to get caught up in the emotion of experiencing a healthy body.
What types of things would you enjoy doing, where would you go, how would your life the different?
Do this for each of the items on your list, be very specific and allow your emotions to become passionately involved.
As long as you stay in generalities about your desires, you will not be clear enough to feel passion for your self and your dreams.
It will be very easy to revert back to pipe dreams.
Passion is the emotional fuel used by us to draw to us inspiration and inspired action. Just as you feel frustration and anger over the way your life is now, move into the emotions of joy, love, ease, and beauty as you imagine living your dreams.
It isnít enough to just know what you want, itís more important to know why you want it. Do you desire a new car because you love the way it looks?
Do you desire a dependable car to safely transport your family on vacations and road trips?
Do you desire a new home so you can be surrounded by comfort and beauty?
Can you imagine the inner peace of knowing this is your home, for you and your family?
Most people say they desire a lot of money.
Money in and of itself isnít really very useful.
Money is at best paper or metal coins. You canít do a lot with money unless you exchange it for other things.
There was a story in a local newspaper several years ago of an old man who died in his hovel of a home.
His circumstances were horrible; shabby furniture, clothing and dirty body in a dirty and shabby room.
His life was so empty that it took several days before anyone decided to see what the smell was coming from his home.
As people began to clear out his meager belongings they lifted the nasty mattress. Finding to too heavy to be a normal mattress they flipped it over and discovered many thousands of dollars stuffed inside.
This is a perfect example of the value of money in and of itself. It has no value unless one does something with it besides stuffing a dirty old mattress.
What we really want are the things money gives us the freedom to do.
Money provides a means of exchange so that we can enjoy travel, eating out, nice clothes, etc.
Rather than stating that you want more money, think of and list all the things that you would like to exchange the money for.
Do you desire vacations to exciting foreign places, contributions to your favorite charities, putting your children and grandchildren through college, or just simply doing as you please?
Have fun with this process, you will find out so much about yourself and your true desires.
Itís Getting clearer now
Weíve discussed why life is as it is. We understand that our thoughts, emotions, beliefs and expectations continually create. Our life is a reflection of our inner self.
In order to change the external, internal shifts must be made and practiced until they become so much of a habit that we practice them automatically.
By this point you better understand the life you are living and why.
Itís time now to make changes that will shift your emotions and your passions on the path of your true desires.
You understand that as long as you think you are unworthy and undeserving, you will continue to create and attract experiences that prove this to you over and over again.
As long as you think and feel sick, you will experience just that.
Do you look in the mirror and see your reflection? What is it you are seeing?
You are yourself, as you believe you to look. Others donít see the image of us that we see when they look at us. Each sees what they expect.
You life experiences are much the same. What you believe in about your ability to be prosperous, healthy, happy, and loved, are all reflected into your actual experiences.
In order to change what you expect you must first accept that your thinking is the root of your passionate energy with which you create.
Knowing this encourages you to shift your inner beliefs into something that better fits what you desire.
You know where your beliefs and self-esteem came from. You can easily trace these backwards and note each time you accepted as truth something someone else told you was so.
Itís time now to let these go and find out what you already know about yourself and just havenít been listening to all these years.
