Justin Brower wanted an escape from his mundane life in a small coastal Oregon town. Prior to his death, Justin’s grandfather inspired him to have as much fun as he could while he was young. That’s why Justin moved to Southern California. After wrecking his truck during the long drive south, he is picked up by two strangers his age, on their way to Santa Monica. An unlikely encounter at an out of the way gas station opens his eyes to the secret existence of a creature that devours human flesh. Before summer’s end, the bloody secrets of the vamptilian will spill into Justin’s world—into his blood. He will become one of them. When he refuses to live reckless and hunt humans as prey, he must battle the monsters to keep himself and his friends alive.

Fiction eBook Preview - Thirst of Youth by Preston J. Sexton
Here’s a book that those who read horror won’t want to miss. The book is called Thirst of Youth, it’s written by Preston J. Sexton, and it will be available from Rogue Pheonix Press on April 01st, 2009. I am recommending this one to anyone who enjoys this genre.
Thirst of Youth is a vampire novel, but with a very unique twist - the vampires aren’t actually vampires at all (if you want to understand you’ll have to read the book). The book tells the story of Justin Brower, a young man trying to escape the mundane life of central Oregon. Upon moving out to L.A. he is presented with a whole new, quite horrific, world where he is forced to fight against a new evil he discovers.
The whole book is an excellent keep-you-on-the-edge-of-your-seat novel, and I am recommending it to anyone who enjoys a good horror book. It’s is an action packed thrill-ride that will keep you reading and wanting more.
Coffee Time Romance and More
With his grandfather gone, Justin Bower decides it is time to move on to a different life in a warmer climate. Southern California is calling his name. The sun, sand, and surf sound like heaven, when in actuality, it is about to become his own personal hell.
Janelle Kirkland and her brother, Matt, split their time between their divorced parents, but are on their way to live with their dad permanently when they meet up with Justin. Their journey to the coast has barely begun when life takes a decided turn for the worse.
Justin, in all of his young life, has never encountered the type of creatures he finds in California. They feed off of the flesh and blood of humans and can move with such speed, it is barely noticeable to the naked eye. At first, his two new friends seem as horrified by the creatures as Justin, but he soon learns that they are all too aware of the existence of a dark underworld. All Justin wants to do is keep Janelle safe and whether that means from the Vamptilians or himself is the big question.
I honestly felt as if I needed a shower after reading this. The blood, gore, and body parts come flying at you from every angle with very little break in the action. Justin is your typical young male with hormone overload, and it nearly gets him killed time and again. Although he has great intentions, his immaturity plays a big part in his lack of effectiveness. This takes the dark side of Vampirism and all of its various forms to a whole new level with a unique blend of character traits that serves up blood and bits like a buffet.
