For generations The Caedo family have dedicated their lives to the annihilation of the Amoveo. Like so many others, they are driven by ignorance and fear and have hunted the Amoveo to the brink of extinction. When one Amoveo is killed, their mate eventually dies and any children they would have had are lost. The Vasullus family, however, serve as protectors for the Amoveo. The first book which is set on the misty, summer shores of Rhode Island follows the evolving courtship of Malcolm Drew of the Eagle Clan and his mate Samantha Logan. Sam is the first of her kind, she’s a hybrid. Her father was Amoveo of the Wolf Clan and her mother was a human with psychic abilities. Her parents were killed in an accident when she was an infant and she was raised by her human grandparents. As a result, Sam was never taught any of the Amoveo ways and her abilities have lay dormant all of her life. Until she meets Malcolm. She froze and clutched her robe closed. She swallowed hard, afraid to open her eyes.. Sam cursed silently at her silliness and slowly cracked one eye open. There was no one in her room, the door was still closed. I’m being ridiculous. Just as she let out a sigh of relief, she heard a clicking noise behind her. It shook its head as though displeased with her response. “Sorry. Nice, birdie,” she said through a strained, almost hysterical giggle. The giant creature didn’t move. It just sat there staring at her, silently watching her with glowing yellow eyes. Sam didn’t know what to do so she stared back. Eventually her artist’s eye began to study the specimen before her. Her fear soon became replaced by curiosity. It was a mammoth bird of prey, an eagle, she thought, but reminded herself she’d have to look it up later. Its feathers shone with bright streaks in varying hues of browns and bronzes. They glinted brightly in golden flashes with even the slightest movement. She eyed its large taloned feet and sharp, hooked beak. Sam shuddered at the damage they could likely do. The eyes were the same piercing yellow she remembered from her dream. They didn’t move from her face. As she stared into the eyes of her feathered visitor, she got the oddest sense of familiarity. She felt like it was intentionally sitting there so she could study it, like some kind of bizarre introduction. Feeling an unusual bravery, Sam slowly reached out to touch it.

Malcolm Drew has waited almost too long to find his life mate, but she’s finally coming home. Unfortunately, she doesn’t know that she is his mate and not entirely human. Malcolm is a member of the Amoveo people, Eagle Clan. He is gifted with the ability to shape-shift into a Golden Eagle and is the last of the clan. As Amoveo, he must find his mate or lose his gifts and eventually, his life. And hunting him are those who are dedicated to destroying all of the Amoveo people.

Samantha is restless, particularly after a dream that stirs up dissatisfaction with her life and a faint promise of something to fill the empty places in her that she’s just discovered. She decides to leave New York and go home to her grandmother, Nonie, who lives next door to the mysterious Drew mansion. When she returns home, she finds much more than she had bargained for.

The Amoveo Legacy is the first book in a series about the fascinating Amoveo people, their fight for survival, and Malcolm and Samantha’s journey to each other. This book has it all: engaging, wonderful characters, drama, love in unexpected places, the battle between good and evil, and lots of surprises. There is a sweetness to it that captivated me and enough fiery passion to stir me. I’ll be waiting impatiently for my next visit to the world of the Amoveo.

Malcolm Drew is one of the Amoveo people, shape shifters. He can shift to a Golden Eagle, has telepathic abilities and can materialize wherever he wants to be. All wonderful gifts, which he'll lose if he does not mate with the one destined to be his. Not a problem. He's found her, half human and half Amoveo. Only there's one little snag. She doesn't know the Amoveo people exist and is unaware of the power within her. Malcolm will have to woe her like a human. Wining and dining, he could endure if one of the Caedos—humans who have made it their mission to eliminate all Amoveos—wasn't out to kill them.

Samantha Logan dreams of a beautiful eagle and that she is a wolf, running free along the beach at her grandmother's house. The dreams prompt her to move back with her grandmother and hopefully figure out what the dreams mean. When she meets the mysterious Malcolm Drew, she finds him arrogant and pushy, but her heart won't stop beating wildly around him. Something draws her to him like a moth to a flame. Only the heat she feels is from his touch.

This is the first book in the Amoveo Legacy series and what a great introduction into the shape shifters' lives. You'll love how tender and caring Malcolm is as he introduces Samantha into his world and their passion for each other will leave you breathless. You'll meet a few of the other hunky men from the other clans, too. I'm hoping there's a story with Dante, from the fox clan and possibly Samantha's friend, Kerry will have a starring role again. Along with the romance you have danger and the mystery of finding out who wants them dead. This is a tale for all paranormal fans. (Love the book cover, too!)

It's a really good read so far and i wish that i could buy it to read the whole book.
