They taped our interview and I began to describe John. Not his physical description, as they already had that from Sandy's information, but his psychological profile. Not much information had been released publicly at that point about some of the details concerning the case, so they knew what I could have read or heard about, and what they had kept secret from the press and public.
"Did he tie her up?" I asked. They all just stared at me and said nothing. "I'm seeing her tied up, like this." I bent my arms around to show them what I meant. "It looks like he used... shoe laces? Did he tie her up with shoe laces?"
They all looked at me, then at one another. One of the officers produced a pair of shoe laces and handed them to me to hold. Sandy had been tied with them, but no one else had known that publicly. They seemed surprised that I knew.
