Timequest - The Adventures of Bob
The Adventures of Bob: the Quest for the Golden Idol follows Bob, an ordinary man who makes an incredible discovery which leads him on a fascinating journey in pursuit of the Golden Idol, an artefact which according to legend has the ability to control time itself.
This novel takes the reader on a voyage through time, painting a fascinating picture of a future where people live in harmony with nature, stress is a thing of the past and no longer does the dark cloud of poverty hang over those who are less fortunate than others. Yet even in this world the sinister forces of evil are still at work, hidden behind a veil of ignorance.
The Evil Enterprise cooperation, named after its founder, Giovanni Eviloni, is best known for its technology development. Amongst its inventions have been the micropuc (a high-tech PDA), the solar powered car and the self-charging mobile phone. However, beneath all the publicity, propaganda and corporate goodies there is another side to this business. Concealed in a skyscraper off the west coast of Italy, a wing of Evil Enterprise operate under the acronym ESARC; Evil Scientific Advanced Research Cooperation. While a lot of their research is harmless, rumours are abounding that more disturbing activities take place there.
Bob's main rival in his quest is the aforementioned Giovanni Eviloni, who has the entire inventory of Evil Enterprise at his disposal. The odds are stacked against Bob, but his resourcefulness and determination may yet enable him to succeed.
Perhaps the Golden Idol is not meant to be found, but one thing is for certain - its very existence turns good men bad. Will Bob fall to its hazy force? Only time will tell...
Bob had stopped searching for Chloe. He was waiting in his craft for Clair when he noticed another craft speed past, and recognised Chloe through the window. He booted up his own craft and accelerated after the kidnapper. Speeding through London, Bob noticed many fires and damaged buildings, but relatively few people. He tried to keep an eye on the kidnapper’s craft. The infrared registration plate on the back of the kidnapper’s craft suddenly folded away, revealing two rockets which fired at Bob. He rotated his craft evasively to avoid them. The pilot of the escaping craft brought it skywards in an attempt to shake Bob off. However, he kept up with ease. The escaping craft now soared back down, dodging between levels. Bob followed closely and calmly. His biggest fear was that the other pilot would crash.
Eventually both pilots left London. They headed through undeveloped country, a rare sight in the modern era. Bob had every chance of catching the kidnapper and reaching Chloe now. It was like following a fiery ball through a dark tunnel. The flashy pattern on the escaping craft glimmered in the bright sunlight, causing Bob the occasional vision problem, but not enough to send him off course. Unfortunately the kidnapper had one more trick up his sleeve. Bob accelerated until he was less than a metre from the other craft. Then, in one bright blue, blinding explosion of light, the escaping craft vanished.
