The Secrets of Burr Creek
Mayor Pennington is hoping he can get the railroad to come through his town to help revitalize the once bustling gold-mining town, but there is one farmer holding out on selling his land.
The new sheriff in town, Ben Talbot, soon finds himself looking for murders along with his deputy, Brody. The sheriff also has to deal with his feelings for the town's Madame, Bell Chase and her business.
Belladonna Chase came west from Kentucky to find her father after her mother died. Her life changes after a tragic event that soon leads her to her father, but he turns her away. She then heads for Burr Creek to settle down and start her business...one the mayor wants to close down.
The sheriff, caught in the middle of his duty and his love, soon realizes there are deep, dark secrets kept by those around him.
“Want to tell me?”
“You need your sleep; you have killers to hunt down. I’ll tell you some other time.” Bell said, putting her nightgown on.
“Promise me you will,” Ben said, holding the blankets up for her to get under.
“I promise.” She kissed him good night, then snuggled up against him. She closed her eyes while he played with her hair.
“I hope it’s soon, pretty lady,” he whispered, holding her close to him.
A tear fell from Bell’s eye while she lay there thinking. If he found out all her secrets, would he want to be with her anymore? She was falling in love with him, something she had vowed never to do again. She wasn’t sure if she wanted to risk another broken heart.
