Irene Estep, Romance/Suspense Author
Infidelity, lies, murder and a love she’d once rejected but now wants more than ever.
After Maggie Youngson receives a mysterious message indicating her late husband had a lover, the lover turns up dead. Maggie is the polices’ number one suspect, so she seeks out an old friend, a former ATF agent who’s just turned PI, for help. But Parker Wilson’s motives for working beside the woman he’s secretly been in love with for years include more than just proving her innocence.
"I'm parked across the street," he said, when she lingered near the steps. After she caught up, the light changed and they walked side by side toward the parking lot beneath Interstate 4. She noted that he moved away when her arm brushed against his.
"I really appreciate what you did back there," she said.
"You're not out of the woods yet," he responded gruffly.
"You don't believe I killed Starlene, do you?" Maggie held her breath for his answer.
"I know you didn't kill her, but considering you had a good motive, it may be difficult to convince the police otherwise."
She got a whiff of his clean scent as he reached around her and wrenched open the passenger door of his pickup. The combination of light sandalwood and Parker's unique manly essence was much more pleasant than the odor left in Detective Manning's wake. For some reason the man reeked of a fish-like essence. "They can't prove something that isn't true."
"Haven't you ever heard of miscarriage of justice? It happens all the time."

Maggie Youngson is a young mother, student, and hostess at a Star's Restaurant. She is the widow of Sam Youngson. She is very attracted to Parker Wilson, but feels that he has rejected her.
Parker Wilson is an ex-ATF agent who has been put on disability by the agency for good due to injuries he sustained during an undercover operation. He has been in love with Maggie for years, but feels since she turned down his marriage proposal two years earlier that she is not interested in him romantically.
When Maggie gets an anonymous note claiming that her boss, Starla, had an affair with Sam before he died, she confronts Starla. However, Starla is not forthcoming, and asks to talk about it later. Only there is no later because Starla is murdered that night. Upset and scared, Maggie asks for Parker's help in discovering who killed Starla, and her husband's possible infidelity. However, Starla's death becomes one in a line of several incidents. When it becomes apparent that Maggie and her daughter might be in danger, Parker begins shadowing Maggie and her daughter, but will he be able to save them before he loses the two people who have come to mean the most to him?
Love, Lies, & Legacies is romantic suspense at its very best! Ms. Estep does a wonderful job of leaving just enough clues to keep you reading without giving the game away. The story line is perfectly convoluted, and easily keeps your attention. The characters are realistic and all have their own personality quirks making them quite fun. I loved how precocious Maggie's daughter Jenny is, and her bonding with Parker is heartwarming. This is one book you will not be able to put down until you have read the very last page!

Book Review: Love, Lies & Legacies
Book Review: Love, Lies & Legacies, Irene Estep by Carol Hoyer January 21, 2008 08:38 PM EST views: 4
"Lies, Love & Legacies" has to be one of the most captivating books the reader has read in quite a while. The author's ability to described the characters in detail made you feel like you had known them all your life. The twists, plots and drama add very enticing action to the story.
Maggie having lost her husband 3 years ago still has concerns about whether he was faithful and if she knew all his background. Rumors were circulating that he had been having an affair with her boss at the Star Restaurant. His death was sudden, due to a hunting accident. He left no money for her and her daughter-she was struggling each day.
Parker, a former agent was injured in an investigation-gone bad and almost didn't make it. He is now living in a fog of depression and unable to focus on what he should do for a living. That is until a case comes his way from a former agent he worked with. Little did he know that this case would bring he and Maggie back together. Their paths had crossed before almost 2 years ago. Then it ended just as quickly.
Maggie was not satisfied with not knowing the truth about her husband and lack of knowledge on how he grew up. She needed to look into it. She asked Parker if he would take the case.
Neither knew that before the case was solved- many people would die mysteriously and Maggie's life would be in danger.
The Star Restaurant owner was killed for reasons unknown; an antique car played into the scenario, as did the missing chef. How does this all fit in? Who is involved and why? Why did Parker's father dislike Maggie so much?
Did it have to do with her suddenly disappearing when his son was near deaths door?
The author's ability to weave this mysterious murder-plot draws the readers in-rooting for Parker and Maggie to make their relationship work as well as pointing fingers at who they think might be the killer.
Readers would be amiss if they didn't get a copy of this book to read
