This short ebook is written in an upbeat style and includes tips, quotes and resources for the writer who is facing a tough time with rejections. It aims to bring a smile on their faces and a positive outlook which can recharge their batteries. The material in the book came about through my experiences in overcoming blocks which arise in every writer's life.
The idea for this book came from two articles I wrote for Absolute Write ('Working at Writing' ) and 'Life after Rejections' for Writer At Work. The articles drew many positive responses from readers. Thus I have gathered my tips for staying afloat, in the form of a book.

My rating : Excellent
Is your creative soul feeling like a trussed up turkey on the Thanksgiving table? Are you constantly plagued by rejection depression? Is your internal editor out of control? Are you constantly being asked what your "real job" is? Moushumi Chakrabarty teaches you how to overcome these obstacles in her delightful book, Positive Thoughts for Writers.
Positive thoughts for Writers deals with issues we face as creative beings in both the social and our own personal worlds. It provides tips on how to handle the problems and situations, most creative people, especially writers face. The readers will definitely chuckle and empathize as they read this book for it covers all situations from cynical relatives to blinking cursors.
Moushumi Chakrabarty is a writer, a poet, a mother and a reader - just some of the multiple hats she wears in her life everyday. She grew up in India and lived in the Middle East before making her home in Ontario, Canada. She has written since early grade school in diaries and journals, graduating to newspaper and magazine articles and is now a writing veteran working on her next book. She also writes for online venues on topics as varied as parenting, the environment, writing and humor.
Humorous in tone, this book is a must read for the amateur and the professional, for it is not just a self help book but also a tremendous confidence booster. If you are writer or a creative person, I highly recommend you not only read it but also share it with your "What creative stuff" family, relatives, friends and acquaintances. Next time you are told "Writing is such a nice hobby", don't react, just tell the person to read this book.

Are you a published writer who finds himself in a rut, with rejections piling high and despondency creeping in? If so you might consider taking a look at this e-book aimed at the writer whose self-confidence is steadily diminishing. It is organized as a collection of twenty-four helpful tips and dispenses much in the way of friendly advice. The tips range from the elementary ‘Eat a full breakfast’ and ‘Write in your journal everyday’ to the self-analytical ‘Write a mission statement’ and ‘Are you actively pursuing your dream of being a writer?’
Some nuggets of advice are general enough to be useful even to professionals other than writers who find themselves in the danger of stagnating.
Each chapter concludes with a ‘Mull Over’ quote that encapsulates the instruction and provides you with more food for thought. The book concludes with a list of resources for writers – books for inspiration and improving technique, and websites helpful for ‘upping the morale’.
If you’re an unpublished writer or one just gaining foothold in the world of writing, then this book is probably not for you. But those who’ve felt the joys and frustrations of the experienced, well-published writer but are now thinking “Am I really good enough to continue writing?”, then rest assured that you are, and you can use this book to get back on track. As the author says in the introduction, this e-book is meant for writers ‘who want to maintain a positive outlook, despite the rejection slips, blocks, distractions, the no-cheques-in-the-mailbox syndromes’.
Throughout the book, the author maintains a friendly style that talks directly to the reader. The prose is liberally garnished with well-expressed metaphors and similes that help illustrate each point. On the whole, ‘Positive Thoughts for Writers’ may not have you grabbing a pen and paper to start writing, but should certainly reinforce your belief in yourself as a writer.
