Two fiftysomethings, a widowed state trooper and a bachelor software billionaire fell in love. They shared many interests and a guardian angel named Gabe, whom has followed them from their respective births, unbeknownst to them. Apparant strangers before they met the second time. Yes, the second time. They had long forgotten their first meeting as a 9 year old boy and a 7 year old girl on a Whidbey Island beach in 1963. The avid divers loved each other then as they did at this time. Both of their careers involved homeland security, hers as a state trooper and his as the developer of security software. This would place them in harm's way, together at the wrong place at the wrong time. The fiery fate that awaited them was all part of plan by a supreme intelligence - this is why the long suffering angel Gabe was on the case, molding these cantankerous, painfully in love, salty hillbilly lovers for for a future role in 'The Creator's' master plan.

A routine traffic stop results in two lonely fiftysomethings finding their soulmate. A widowed Washington State Patrol trooper and a bachelor software mogul make a little magic together. They shared many interests, SCUBA diving, freediving, slow dancing, spearfishing, hotrods and doo-wop record collecting. They were telepathic with each other, able to converse without words. This however  was not their first meeting - they seemed familiar to each other, but could not figure out why - they simply had forgotten each other, the first meeting on that Whidbey Island beach at Deception Pass as a girl of seven and a boy of nine. Brief as it was, they knew they belonged with each other, expert swimmers and freedivers at that age, wearing mere bathing suits, diving down to 30 feet below the surface in that icy water to get kelp floats so she could make dolls, scaring their parents out their wits. They tearfully parted, knowing they may never see each other again. Time buries things, but a guardian angel they shared named Gabe saw that they reconnected, despite their faded memories of each other. 'The Creator' had plans for them, but their careers were woven into homeland security, which placed them in harm's way, together in a hellish battle with a determined terrorist cell, bent on wholesale destruction of infrastructure and the killing of as many Americans as they could possibly kill. That icy November night could have meant the death of them, as both were warned in dreams. The starcrossed lovers and a handful of friends battled for their lives in the rain and sleet.  Gunshot, burned badlywithin an inch of their lives, it looked hopeless. But the 'Creator' had a future for them.

"Orry - YOU ARE THAT BOY! Don't you ever leave me again, you hillbilly! I never thought I would ever see you again! How could I have been so blind?" Mara shrieked as a seven year old girl again.
"Junior! I had a feeling you could have been that redheaded girl," Orson chattered. "Now we are getting married - but why did the Ol' Creator make us wait 46 years? You will never stray from me again!"
"Orry - look! It's 1963 again!" she exclaimed. "Ma's making potato salad!"
