The chronicals of a shy prairie kid who accidently went to Cuba once, and then went back 119 more times over the next twenty years.
Painfully shy, a middle child with a habit of breaking a glass or plate every day, Brian joined a diving club on their latest venture, this time to Cuba, in the winter of 1989. On the beach volleyball court, he met and befriended a small group of Cuban students who were at the hotel for a semester to improve their English. An innocent vacation to escape the Prairie winter in Canada would turn out to be a turning point in his life.
Over twenty years and 120 trips to Cuba, Brian learns more than he ever expected to about the differences, and similarities, between the two cultures, and finds a wife and family in the process. His best man, one of the students from his first trip to Cuba, turns out to be one of the most-wanted counterrevolutionaries in the country, and that bond would nearly cost one of them his life, and the other his marriage.
