Teagan Dacre loves fast cars, loud music and beautiful women, however he carries a secret that keeps him isolated from the general population; he has strange silver eyes, heals really fast and hasn't aged in over a hundred years. The darkest secret of all - he has a blood thirst that must be satisfied by each new moon.
Believing himeself unique, Teagan's world is turned upside down when he meets an unruly family of immortals seeking their father and maker, none other than the world's first murderer, Cain.
Everything Teagan thought he knew about himself is tranformed when he learns how vampires came to be and for what purpose he was made.
For everything, there's a price to be paid. Teagan wonders if he'll be strong enough to pay it.
The Blood of Cain
“There has to be a cost, there’s always a price.” Cain muttered, pacing back and forth. He swiveled around on his feet so that he faced Lilith. “Everything has a blood bond. The sacrifices we make to cover our offenses are made in blood, whether by she-goat, heifer or dove. This too would require blood, but how and by what means?” He looked down at the box then back at Lilith.
“What price are you asking me to pay?”
Lilith spoke in a soft, calm tone. “What more can you pay? Damned is damned, nothing beyond that. Adam damned us all.”
Cain knelt next to Lilith. “But, I’ve heard rumors of a blood redemption to come; a hope for reconciliation.”
Lilith stared at Cain, her eyes softened and she whispered, “Do you think that promise is for you, Cain, a murderer?”
Cain winced and felt a shutter run through his body. The image of his brother’s lifeless body flashed in his mind. In a barely audible whisper he said, “Surely, me too.”
Lilith squeezed his hand then said in a cold, unfeeling tone. “A thousand winters have passed—many have died without this redemption. I’m soon to follow.” She reached her hand out toward him. “Cain, my only son, don’t let me slip into the underworld without knowing you’ll live. Don’t join me in that place of desolation.” Her voice softened. “Besides, if this redemption ever comes, you shall be alive to receive it.”
Cain bit down on his bottom lip and balled his fists. “But, what if that’s the cost?” he whispered.
He buried his head into Lilith’s chest.
She stroked his hair. “That’s the chance you’ll have to take, my son.”
