Crime saga as told by one of its own.
LAPD Hollywood division officer Ashley Ruth has successfully managed to attain her goal; to graduate from the very tough Los Angeles Police Academy. She has now just realized her second goal; making it through her one year probationary period as a rookie cop. But through all this nothing had prepared her for the wild-ride she was about to take as a Hollywood beat cop.
Morally, Ashley knew she had to do the right thing especially in light of the recent world-wide department's embarassing news coverage of such incidents as, I.E. the Rodeny King beating, and O.J. Simpson debackle. She knew she had to disclose the evidence she had unwitingly stumbled onto. She grapples with the agonizing decision that would certainly incriminate her partner if true, but at the same time restore public confidence in a department that had been characterized as the poster boy for the "Code-Of-Silence" foundation.
In the rough-and-tumble world of a L.A. street cop a young officer can get chewed up by the system and spat out in a heartbeat if he or she has bad timing or is just plain unlucky, many a young cop's tombstone will atest to that! Now meet, "One Tough Cop" one that got chewed up but instead of being spat out she made the system choke. She steadfastly refused to become just another one of its victims, another dead cop and in the process became an unlikely department hero.
