It seems like the whole world is in trouble in some way or another. Take Hollywood for example, quite a few of the famous actors can't seem to act like they have any sense, they stay in the headlines most of the time. Especially when it comes to drugs and alcohol. Usually trouble involves some type drugs or alcohol. I'm not going to play around about the reason that I wrote a book like this. Personally it was my own troubles that motivated it, plus the fact that I like to stay out of trouble.

There is no magic formula for staying out of trouble other than applying a certain amount of responsiblity to do so. A person has got to want to avoid trouble and the police. It shouldn't be taken lightly, some take this aspect of life too lightly. Next thing they know the bracelets are going around the wrist and off to jail they go, or something worst like death. Some young people take a lot of chances with their survival, so do some older foolish people. In my book I stress making staying out of trouble a personal goal just like any other worthwhile adverture. Make staying out of trouble a goal before it makes a goal out of you. And this is exactly what it will do if we don't apply a certain amount of responsibility in doing so.

This book takes the reader up close and personal with understanding the police officer and why it is worth the extra effort to avoid trouble. The author brings this understanding to the reader through facts, discussions and personal examples from his eleven-year police officer experience. Open the book up and read why learning to understand the police officer is much better than fearing and fighting him. The author explains this through strong facts and analogies such as, "having more common sense than to light a match while pumping gas into your vehicle." This book also serves as a reminder to the reader that learning to stay out of trouble should be a personal goal just like any other worthwhile adventure. Reading it will definitely move your emotions and decision making process to a safer level when it comes to the police and trouble period. This book is like reading a powerful story with a message that shouldn't be missed by anyone who really cares about their own safety and welfare.

Police officers function the way they do for safety reasons, yours and theirs. When you come into contact with them, you should consider the same agenda. Even though you can't put them down on their faces you can do things like follow their commands and always remember to keep your hands where they can be seen. Remember, the hands can be used to operate the most deadly weapon there is in the world to the police officer, the handgun.

Most people feel that they may be safe around police officers and basically they are, but there are times when it takes everyone to be responsible for safety and life, especially during stressful situations. Make sure you do your part to guarantee your own safety by following police officers instructions.

"Being dead right should never be an option."

Reader Reviews for "Understanding Police Officers and Staying Out Of Trouble"

Dear Grady,

I just finished reading your book, 'Understanding Police Officers and Staying out of Trouble'

I too, would highly recommend this book to be read by all teenagers.

The schools would benefit from having such a book in their libraries.

You show how much you care about people Grady, and you do so with your "tell it like it is' approach which I find refreshing!

An extremely informative write that covers a multitude of questions and answers for not only teenagers but the entire human race.

The words of wisdom flow from Grady's heart and into this book in hopes of inspiring the public and giving them true and accurate information about Police officers and staying out of Trouble.

Congratulations Grady! All the best to you.

As a former law enforcement officer and currently involved with Amber Alert and Child Abduction it is always nice to see a very direct and strong book about law enforcement. I spent some time working with juvinals in a detention program. This should be required reading for juvinals as well as officers.

I believe this author is sending a very powerful message, which will have immediate impact on many people today and in the future. As mentioned by one reviewer, the elderly are also vulnerable to provoked trouble, as well as young hot-blooded teen-agers, and all types of minorities. In my experience, there are certain predatory groups, just looking for potential victims, who won't know what to do, when confronted with unprovoked aggression. As for me (being offshore), I have had an encounter with being temporarily locked up for "analysis" by authorities, presumably funded by the U.N. So I know this book is important and wish the author the best of luck.

I have not read the book, therefore, I cannot make a comment about it. However, I understand how easily we can become deceived. This is an age of demonic minds and the innocent can easily fall. To parrent has never been an easy work but more so today. There is evil around every corner. The elderly are targeted also and must be always alert. In fact, there is no safety anywhere but life must go on. So, in my opinion, we must put our trust in our creator and try, to the best of our ability, to stay out of trouble with his help.

This is an important book, for many reasons. It is my primary purpose to stay out of jail. That is a bad place to go and should be avoided by taking every precaution.

Grady's book tells it like it very probably is. The personal anecdotes are very interesting and bring insight to his law enforcement career. Grady has great common-sense advice for any of us who may ever be in a confrontation with police, even an inadvertant one. I think every juvenile detention center and halfway house should promote this book. It could change lives. Congratulations to Grady for making the information in this book available to us.

I've read Grady's book. The book shows he really cares about people. I would recommend "Understanding Police Officers and Staying Out of Trouble" to be required reading for all teenagers. Unnessary death happens everyday mainly because some people don't understand the policeman's viewpoint. Many lives could be saved by reading it. It's interesting, and its a good read for anyone who wants to stay safe after being stopped by an officer.
