This is a book of poetry comprised of 30 poems from several different genres written by a high-level quadriplegic.

Larry Muncy's Simple Thoughts Paralysis and Poetry Storefront

"Simple Thoughts" a collection of thirty poems from various genres. Larry Muncy (author) had his first poem published when he was in 10th grade. His poems reflect how he felt at certain stages in his life. Some poems will make you laugh, and others will make you cry. You may find yourself agreeing with his writing one moment just to find yourself disagreeing only seconds later. Larry Muncy was paralyzed in an automobile accident in 1991, and he has experienced marriage, divorce, life, death, addiction, sobriety, good health, and bad health. All of these elements are spread throughout his book "Simple Thoughts."

I am bound by invisible chains,
Chains that will not break;
I am not afraid of death,
It is life I cannot take.

You may sometimes hear me say,
In a calm and sacred voice;
To choose life over death
Is to a fool make a foolish choice.

I am too scared to live,
And too unfortunate to die;
Too scared to take chances,
And too eager to cry.

I look for a way out,
So I have no need to pretend;
I scream to inform the world
That I look forward to the end.

I look forward to the day
When I take my final breath;
And only then will I know
If the only peace, in life, is death.
