This is my second collection of poetry, including both previously published and unpublished poems. These poems attempt to illuminate the darker side, or the Shadow side of our experiences. These are the experiences that help us grow and teach us to listen to our heart.

Carolyn Wolfe is a published poet and author whose books range from poetry to light fantasy children's stories about Dragons . In this, her second poetry collection, she has created a mood piece with poems that concern the shadow self,  or the darker part of the personality.  Her poems explore the deep corners of the psyche and the world around us, to hopefully shed a little light on the subject. Ms. Wolfe lives in the Shenandoah Valley with her husband Scott and her many animal companions.

Dark Tequila Nights

Straight, no ice
in the liquid darkness
no tequila sunrises for me, thank you
I like it late night
stars just out of reach
blurred,twinkling
and the air is thick with
Summer's labored heat
it is a sweaty affair
no frills
just the tequila and I
enjoying the long, slow ride
of going downhill
each sip
a raw taste
bringing on the
overwhelming feeling of pleasure
in the darkness
then slowly,
I slip into a vision
of what I might have become
had I chosen to live
in daylight...
