Author Now in Disguise
The author of Suicide String now travels in disguise for security reasons. Burt Keimach's face does not appear on the Internet and will be blocked out on TV. On radio, his voice will be changed. When traveling he never stays in the same place twice, and he frequently changes cars. The sensitive nature of Suicide String, which is based on personal knowledge, has prompted concerns for his safety. Regrettably there can be no public book signings

In the wake of '9/11', suicide bombers still believe fervently that they will enter Paradise by ending their earthly lives and killing 'infidels'.
The story outlines the young life of a member of a Hamas Battle Cell. It precisely details the deeply religious and historical rationale for his creed, going back to the time of the infamous hashish-driven 'Assassins' of early Islam, and leading him eventually to the target in the US that is his objective.
Paralleling the sinister activities of the terrorists, is a world famous Israeli Professor of History and Politics who travels to the US where he becomes the unwitting focus of interest for the Battle Cell. Linked to the Professor are his old friend and antagonist, the Prime Minister of Israel, members of the Mosad, Israeli students in the US, and the intrepid investigators of the FBI.
Through the Professor, and the other protagonists, the roots of the Israeli-Arab impasse, and the personal agonies on both sides of a tragic divide, are examined. The story takes on aspects of a thriller as suspicions mount, and law enforcement agencies in America begin to zero in on the cell. The conclusion, like the turmoil in the Middle East, leaves the world gasping.

Reader Reviews for "Suicide String"

Reviewed by Ibrahim Shah 1/5/2004
Though this is fiction (thank God!) it could so easily not be, and that's the point. In this book, we readers are treated as deserving of education on terrorism. It makes a refreshing change to media opiates. It is also an essential one.
But Mr Keimach still manages to deliver that elusive mix of information and entertainment. What better way to get the message across? Well done!

Suicide String should be required reading for President Bush et al. The story is plausible, if a bit frightening, and the writing is smooth and fluid. When I finished, I felt better informed. I found myself thirsting for knowledge about an extremly complex subject. The book has stimulated me to seek out facts and figures. But at the end of the day because I understand a little more, I am also terrified and watch the news alerts like a hawk.

By weaving the background to the Mid East impasse in a sharply written novel, Burt Keimach has succeeded in convincing me that terrorism is the number one disease infecting mankind. It's an enjoyable read, well worth the time. When I did put it down I felt both well-informed and entertained.

I never realized the depth of horror and terrorism that's out there until reading Suicide String. This makes you understand that the terror alert should be set at maximum for all time!
