I Have a Reason to Smile: A Book of Poetry is a collection of personal poems that explore, in the author's words 'stories of life': falling in and out of love, sexuality, spirituality and identity.
The poem "Everything Matters" contemplates the role of an individual's past in shaping present identity. The author asserts that every detail of her past influences her present:
Everything Matters
My family and who they are
Where I come from,
They are my memories...
I will cherish them
forever...
Depicting the author's desire to receive forgiviness and a second chance in a relationship that has gone wrong.
"Change In Me" communicates the enduring nature of true love:
True love comes around,
once in a lifetime
This is our second chance,
will you be mine?
You know, you love me in
in your heart
Truly, I love you
Let's make a new start.
Interpreting the varied experiences and emotions of life through the author's subjectivity.
"I Have a Reason to Smile": depicts the universal human experiences of love, loss and faith.
